"Chapter 5: Two for the Road"

Herm looked down at Christian's body.
"I guess Jamie won't be getting his D3 apology now," he said.
The day started off quiet, no one quite sure who to turn to next. However, things took a sudden turn when a desperate cry was heard from high above.
"Free Farlig!", a voice screamed from the walls of the Castle. Everyone looked up to see an ape with glasses looking down at them. It was Princess Farlig, the fairest lady in all of Florin. The people of Florin stared up admiringly at Princess Farlig. As the crowd gathered below Farlig started eating some popcorn.
"How do we free you fair princess?" someone in the crowd asked.
Farlig shrugged and stuffed his face with more popcorn.
Then, out of nowhere, he seemed to lose his footing, or was pushed...either way, Farlig fell off the castle wall and began hurtling toward the ground. He landed with a loud thud. The crowd that had gathered screamed in horror.
"The Princess is dead!" someone shrieked.

Grandpa stopped reading and started flicking through the pages in confusion.
"What's the matter Grandpa?" Grandson asked.
"I swear this book has changed since the last time I read it...the princess never died! And she wasn't an ape either."
"Forget that, I wanna know what happens next!" The Grandson said eagerly.
"Yeah...okay" Grandpa said wearily.

Everyone was shocked.
"Can I still talk to Farlig?" Penner asked, looking down at his mangled body. "We had pressing business to discuss."
The rest of the crowd who had witnessed Farlig's death found this in bad taste, and focused their ire on Penner. They began to circle him threateningly. But before they got too far Penner intervened.
"I've got to go see a play with the gf," Penner said. "But before I go you should know I'm the Mayor!"
As Penner walked away, the mob turned their attention to Josh. But as the mob closed on him he stopped them in their tracks.
"You're going to want me around!" Josh said.
"Well who then?" Spider said.
"Him," Lamps said, pointing at Cody.
Apparently that was good enough, as everyone immediately turned on Cody.
Cody laughed in disbelief.
"And why can’t we pile onto someone inactive?" he asked. "So dumb..."
"Claim Cody," Primate demanded.
"Fuck off," Cody replied.
"Yikes, sorry!" Primate replied, before stabbing Cody in the chest with a pitchfork. Lamps, Nav and Penner joined Primate in attacking Cody. Cody fell to the floor, bloodied and bruised. Mittens finished him off with a kick to the head.

Cody has been lynched.
