I've heard about it before but never checked into it at all. I'll take music recommendations from Youtube comments. I won't take political or life advice from them. But when someone asks "what are some other bands that sound like this?" and someone replies directly with a string of band names, there's typically at least one good one in there.
And I use adblock on Youtube so I never sit through a commercial.
But a streaming service that cuts out the middle-man of Youtube comment retardation would be pretty cool.
I could have sworn I had adblock on my computer and that Youtube was just magical and its ads would show up anyways. This makes Youtube browsing a much more pleasant experience. Fuckin' hate those Geico ads.
Both of those are staples from my classic rock days. And both are still great, especially dat solo in Comfortably Numb. I particularly like the drumbeat to When the Levee Breaks used in this Beastie Boys song (with Sabbath's Sweet Leaf riff):
San Andreas, nothing got me more hype than when this song would come on. Granted, it was the original Jerry Reed version, but still. HAHA you can sure get lost in the Louisiana bayou.

Yeah, the song is great, but I think the drums really make it for me.
Also, a much more minor thing, but sometimes listening on Youtube will lead to bands I've not heard of before that I wind up enjoying through the suggested videos or very, very rarely the comments. Whereas my own playlist would just be a big echo chamber. A pleasant one, but one nonetheless.
I use Pandora, I like that when I enter an artist/channel it throws out similar artist suggestions. You can also "like/dislike" artists and they will play more or less depending on your preferences. Apparently you can share those channels with other people, but I never bothered to figure out how.

I can actually understand that last point about finding new artists, I suppose. But I can't remember the last time I took any Youtube comments seriously. Have you ever considered Spotify? It's pretty much music streaming with a pretty big selection as well as artist recommendations. Since it's free it inevitably has advertisements but they're less frequent than if I was listening to exclusively music on Youtube.
Is Spotify similar to Pandora? I stick with it since it's on the phone/ipad/roku. I'm willing to change to something better though.
A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart.

tbh it's hard to say because I know Spotify does have the ability to create radio stations but I never use that function. The way I use it is set up similar to any other music player on your computer but with a big pool of music to choose from. I believe you can get it on your phone as well but I haven't tried.
