Maybe they were an iconic actor or director that you can go back and still love their movies and have them touch you.

His work has you touching yourself

You won't believe the number of sexual double entendres I deleted while writing the above. It took me awhile.

In the end, The Hef is likely to be forgotten ten years from now, if it takes that long. His impact was immediate, but not lasting*.

well, this part is untrue.

dude made history in the word of publishing.

Not lasting impact.

Quick poll:

When was the last time you bought a Playboy Magazine?

If you haven't bought one in years, when was the last time you pulled one of them out? Or did you get rid of them all years ago?

I see stacks of old Playboys at flea markets all the time and people just march past them. You have the occasional creepy collector dude who is trying to complete his collection, but most just sit there unsold forever.

Dude come on man, you're just being an SJW right now. Jump starting the sexual revolution is a pretty damn big deal. That's a huge fucking impact for the culture deal culture. Of course he's not going to be remember as an actor or a singer, that's a really dumb comparison to make. The Playboy bunny symbol is iconic and will forever be associated with him, it still comes up all the time in clothing (especially streetwear). You're really focusing on just the magazine when there's really more of a brand.

Screw you Vlady, I loved that my Dad stashed his playboys where he didn't think anyone would find them. Still remember the sad day when I went to grab one and they were gone. :(

Everyone remembers the first time they looked at Playboy, at least I would think they would. Cause I sure do.

My favorite part of this thread is learning that people try to sell old playboy magazines to their neighbors

And yea, most Playboys are worthless. The ones with iconic models/interesting covers have demand. Especially 1st issue:

Not SJW at all. I tell you that nobody is going to remember him in 10 years, except for an occasional "Oh yeah, that guy! What happened to him?"

See the old people will remember him for a little while, but then our memory gets dim and we'll just tell stories like "I remember when I looked at my first Playboy mag." and our grandkids will look at us and say "What's a mag?"

Like the 5 1/4 floppy, the only thing that will be remembered is a symbol that's lost its meaning.

Not lasting impact.

wrong. first off, one doesn't ranke (pun!) history by impact. further, you seem unaware of the role that playboy had in the evolution of decency laws in this country -- which affected everything from film to comic books to live music. you think it's an accident that pornography is barely regulated on the internet?

vladykins @ 28/9/2017 14:04

When was the last time you bought a Playboy Magazine?

beyond irrelevant and you know it.

2 Live Crew also had an impact on the evolution of decency laws. Ask a high schooler who they are and they'll stare at you funny. But they can talk to you about, say, Kurt Cobain.

You haven't said anything that convinces me that he'll be remembered ten years from now.
