You where very dismissive of looking into what people have discarded, which I agree partly with but it can be used to an extent.

People are obviously going to pick the role they think would be the most fun to play and is more valued by them, seeing as this is a game. From my experience, third party roles are pretty fun to play. I dont think I have ever seen or heard someone complain that playing third party was boring, people usually dont get to do that very often as there are only 1-2 in each game. F.x. I have played this game for a relatively long time and I only think ive received a third party role 2-3 times, so for me to throw a third party role down the drain I would have to have a pretty solid alternative.

With that in mind, for people to discard a third party role they would have to have a better or a more valued role (by themselves) to pick.

Now, you discarded a supposed third party role (Alien doesnt sound very townie) and you downplaying the discard list sounds very much like you are trying to hide that you picked a better scum role. Thats the vibe that I am getting from you.

I think Moose and Matt are bad choices. I'd prefer a Dylan or Rob lynch, but if no one feels the same about them then not gonna throw away my vote.

Voting an inactive is an option too I guess, but not my first choice. As for others with votes, I would have no real problem voting Ahoda or Nobert - don't have a scum or town read on them but they are better options than Matt and Moose imo so I'd consider voting Ahoda/Nobert to save the latter two from getting lynched if needed.

Alien isn't townie, from the looks of it, it looks like a weaker mafia faction. Third party roles may be fun but they tend to be harder to win with though.

Aliens aren't third party. They're a separate faction.

I'm not downplaying the list, and I even posted an extensive list of all the roles left. I'm just saying that it's silly to assume "this is the only reason people discard a role". Not everybody plays the game the same way that you do.

I favour town roles in general because it makes the game more of an investigative one, and a town victory is better earned. However depending on my mood, I might prefer a different sort of role. It's entirely dependent on circumstance and I imagine that everybody else is the same.

If I was trying to hide something regarding discarded roles, I wouldn't draw attention to it at all. But silly claims of ONLY SCUM WOULD DISCARD SCUM or whatever bullshit is nonsense.

For those unclear, read the wiki article on the game setup. My understanding is there are three factions (alien, scum and werewolf) plus townies and third parties.

Alien is a faction with only a single one shot factional kill for the whole game. In exchange for having only one kill ever, they have extremely powerful roles.

Also want to say that having this kind of dialogue (e.g. being called out on something specific) and responding to the suspicion is a lot more helpful than people tossing around "I have a scummy vibe" or "something doesn't sit right". You can actually read into and analyse something more solid like this than you can just "FOS ON EVERYBODY BECAUSE THERE IS SCUM IN THE GAME".

Follow up accusations and suspicions with solid evidence unless you're trying to hide some role related intel that you hope people will read into later.

Ty Paul for your advice. Don't know how we have played without you but I will make adjustments as gut feelings are irrelevant.

I'm over the Moose stuff tbh. The more I think about it, the more I could see her just being like "fuck this" after seeing the full possible list of roles and getting screwed into vanilla v vanilla.

Screwed? VT is a very important role and a good one. Can't stand people that get VT and then just don't play.
