Yeah nerds gotta calm down and treat it as its own new series. I enjoyed it as well.

I just finished Hemlock Grove, Netflix's other original series besides House of Cards

Wasn't very good. For whatever reason I decided to stick through it and watch all 13 episodes. Not really sure what about it held my interest. I think I just don't like stopping shows halfway through without knowing how it all ends

It's a horror show, but there were no scares at all. Would've been much better if they went all out on the scares and gore

It was pretty awful. The acting was so atrocious at parts. I read beforehand that Famke Janssen was supposed to be a highlight but she was god awful

It had very obnoxious DRIVING scenes that got to me. Awful greenscreen while they were driving. And the driver would do that stupid thing where he'd look at his passenger for about 20 seconds without once looking at the road. It irked me

The only thing it had going for it was its werewolf transitions and a few well done gore scenes. That's about it. Not worth watching at all really

Great Gatsby.

IN A WORD OBNOXIOUS AF. The performances (bar Tobey, whose neurotic awkwardness feels anachronistic) are uniformly excellent, particularly Mulligan and LEO. But in the first half, the constant barrage of COLORS is less intoxicating than it is distancing, and the editing is so overactive that it's hard to watch. Certain shots are almost PAINTERLY in their beauty, but you only get less than a second to see them, and they don't cut together well. I'm not even fucking well-read in FILM GRAMMAR and I noticed it. The soundtrack I was expecting to love, but it was often just cacophony to complement the OTT party scenes.

I'm still watching it as I type this, but Ju-on is the last movie I've watched. I feel like I always end up watching Asian ghost movies late at night. I have seen Ju-On before (and The Grudge) and I know the names of the ghosts just from watching so much out of boredom.

Wrath of the Titans - Never watched the first one. I liked this but going on imdb afterwards made me feel defective for liking it. I'm just a sucker for anything based on mythology, butchered or not. My big complaint was the battle with the Minotaur that lasted all of 2 minutes.

Troy - How did Sean Bean survive to the end of this one?

Kalifornia - A Brad Pitt two-fer. Love this movie.

Prometheus - Only the last half. I've got it on Bluray but apparently I'm so lazy I will only watch it when I can find it on TV. I guess I kind of liked it, but I'm sure having the first half of the movie would have made me like what I saw infinitely more. That wiggly thing that evolved at the end freaked me out.

Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia - Just... just wow. The Dancing Outlaw was a movie one of my friends used to like to show to people after smoking them down. Color me surprised that Jesco White was the most normal out of the whole bunch. I was also retroactively embarrassed for hanging out with people that reminded me of this family back in highschool.

Scream 4 - I enjoyed seeing a former WCW champion take consecutive steel bedpan shots to the head. Most resilient returning characters of any series. Knife proof, almost. I guess it was okay.

Less Than Zero - Depressing, don't know why I watched it or what I expected from an adaptation of a Bret Easton Ellis book.

Live! - A mockumentary (kinda, I guess?) about a television exec pitching and putting together a show about finding contestants to play a live game of Russian Roulette. Each survivor to be given five million dollars. It could have been a lot better, but I thought the idea was really neat and it kept my attention.

Resident Evil: Retribution. I don't know why I'm watching it aside from boredom, but I was like "Hey, it's Mika Nakashima!" and then Michelle Rodriguez sitting on a swing with a giant gun and not giving a fuck is probably one of my favorite images from this movie.

The visuals are fun and funny. I like how the film doesn't bother with slower shots or trying too hard. Shit just goes, and I think the special effects people were just like "Yeah throw in a slow motion bullet thing here. Don't worry about making stuff look less fake. No one cares! :D"

I watched Furious 6 last night for my birthday. I am a p. big fan of the series but the newest one really blew it out of the water.

There were lots of ties back to the older movies which was cool and it was written pretty well for that extreme action overload genre. Would of liked another street race but overall I enjoyed it.
