Thanks.
If any of you guys smoke. Quit right now. You don't want to go out that way. It's fucking awful. |
As someone who has lost 3 of my 4 grandparents to smoking-related issues, I 100% agree with your statement here.
I'm incredibly sorry for your loss and the pain that you have gone through in dealing with everything. |
that really sucks Primate. so this wasn't related to her fall? that makes it worse. and i echo Spin, 2/4 grandparents here died directly or indirectly from smoking related cancer.

Going to agree 1000% here. Nearly every family member I have has died from something directly traced from the smoking they did.
Hell, I'm pretty sure the only reason my grandma is alive right now is because she was forced to stop smoking after her heart attack a few years ago.
Fuck cigarettes. |

You know Helios is scum when he summarizes everything and then adds to the discussion by picking out one random sentence someone says and writes an italicized diatribe about how it's curious and he really, REALLY wants to know more about it.
"What did you mean by this, though? You are eating a biscuit? A BISCUIT???? Seems a little farfetched to me. Really gonna need to hear more about this biscuit situation." | Yes
With some form of over the top, “Wait, what the actual fuck?!” thrown in
| A biscuit? Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?
Say it with me... inactive biscuit is still biscuit. And my key to victory. |

My grandma had leukemia but it was ultimately emphysema that killed her, and she was only in her 70s. Completely agree with the smoking PSA. Smoking steals years of time away that we could have with our loved ones. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

Damn. That’s really rough KC, I’m real sorry to hear that happened. I’ll second Vladys questions - are you both doing alright?

They survived. I spent the entire night and day thinking I lost them and with what they took, they're super lucky that it didn't end up killing them. They went silent over the phone and after I got disconnected, the phone just kept ringing. They were hiding somewhere discreet and wouldn't tell me where they were. This all happened while I was at work, which I could not leave, so it was just a very bad time.
I... guess I'm ok. This has been a really shitty year for me and I was anticipating the worst as it's been par for the course. I'm glad they're still here but there's a lot of work to do and I got to make sure they make the right choices going forward. I'm afraid they won't. It's hard because they live far away. |

Sorry to hear it. Just remember that you can offer help and be there, but ultimately, it's out of your control.

So, I was reminded this week to be grateful and thankful for the good things in my life.
I went to a funeral on Tuesday for a 6 year old boy, who was the son of a guy that used to work with me at my firm. He’s on the other side now, and we have cases against one another. He’s a great guy. His son had been sick and battling through it his whole life, but I think his death was still a bit of a surprise. It was going to be heartbreaking either way, but when I went up to speak with them before the funeral I realized that they had an open casket. I don’t have kids, but seeing his mom looking back at him every few seconds broke my heart. One of my co-workers was with me and he has daughters about that age, and when we got back outside he just broke down.
Something like that reminds you just how important it is to really enjoy and take full advantage of the time you get with your loved ones.
