A Clockwork Orange
prettyyyyy good. A lot of stuff I liked, not much that I flat out disliked. Some really instantly iconic scenes. The use of music was the best part of the movie for me
It was WAY different than what I thought it’d be. I really didn’t know much going in at all which is weird for how popular it is, but I assumed it was gonna be closer to what the first half hour was. I had no idea the bulk of it was about his jailing and reformation, that really surprised me. Second half was good but I liked the first chunk better, I wish it was more about the crimes of the foursome and that society, I really liked the look of the four as classic villains. Some of those opening moments were brutal and fucked up
I’m probably at a 7/10
Our Letterboxd ratings are funny and show how divisive the movie is:
Jacob: 8
Havo: 1
Miko: 10
JJ: 5
Boc: 6
Curtis: 7
All over the place |
I do really like this use of letterbox'd though.

Also I saw "The Quiet Place" (rented not in the theater which was sad). I really liked it.

Also another Mama Mia related post. I downloaded the Mama Mia soundtrack to spotify to listen to on my way home from work tonight. It was fun at first until I started listening to songs sung by Pierce Brosnan, (and then skipping them) and then I wondered why I was listening to the movie soundtrack when I could just listen to Abba. Sorry to Bother You
what an extremely odd movie. It starts off ECCENTRIC/Gondry-esque but descends into madness eventually. I dug it though. The analogies were strong even if they were a bit unsubtle. For a first time director/writer tho it was extremely impressive
Also Armie Hammer ended up stealing the movie, he was great

THE HORSES, jesus christ. Perfect decision not to hint/show anything before the reveal in the 'stables', cuz that caught me so off-guard. I thought it was a hallucination at first tbh
I was pretty convinced that the ending would be like Fifteen Million Merits, where Cassius ends up leading a revolution (which did happen) but it ended up being all part of Lift's plan somehow and is immediately corporatized
I did 'like' when WorryFree's stocks immediately skyrocket when Cassius first reveals the horse-people to the world. That part felt so true |

Therapy for a Vampire
It was cute, though a bit misogynistic in parts. Ending kind of fell flat.

Baby Driver 4/10
This is what I believe Primate would call a “Gimmick” movie. Starts out different, which was ok, I gave it a point for originality even tho I didn’t care for it, then as it moves into the flow it reveals itself as a one trick pony with an exaggerated an over the top, typical action movie. The story was weak and hard to believe and there was scant character building. Had it not been for Jamie Foxx there would have been virtually no acting at all in this movie. Even Kevin Spacey seemed to mail it in. Reminded me of what a Tarantino movie would be like without the ridiculous excessive cussing.

Watched Blockers last night. Having girls this movie touched close to home. It has a couple really funny parts, but overall it was ok. Johna Cena is like an up and coming Dwayne Johnson. He's usually pretty funny and enjoyable and that happens here for me as well. |

Sorta a movie, watched the BBC three part mini Archangel (with Daniel Craig). Was worth watching- comes out to a little more than two hours, so like a long movie rather than a three part TV show. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |
