https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/01/public-figures-call-biggest-ever-uk-protest-oppose-trump-visit
Don't you just love it when champagne socialist celebrities piss the bed over politics?
They are organizing a protest against the planned Drumpf state visit. :|
I couldn't give a fuck personally. Him coming over here doesn't make a difference to anything, so I'm not sure what these people are trying to achieve.
Even the 'opposition' are throwing a hissy fit over this. Comrade Corbyn is wasting time bitching about this instead of putting forward a left wing vision for Brexit.
Here are some other controversial leaders that have made state visits to the UK:
Robert Mugabe
Putin
President Xi
The King of Saudi Arabia
Emperor Hirohito (yes, really)
But I guess Drumpf is worse than all those fucks.
|
Yeah all of my super liberal friends in London have been posting that petition to ban Trump from visiting and although I think Boris Johnson is a giant goon, I agreed with his point that African dictators already make state visits and nobody causes an uproar.
Makes more sense to just put pressure on the government to not make concessions of Trump/denounce his immigration ban rather than barring the asshole from making a visit entirely. |
Just noticed you changed Trump to Drumpf in the quote. Very sneaky Maddie! |
Oh my god. No. Ah! Google Chrome does it for me. I installed Stephen Colbert's "Make Donald Drumpf Again" Chrome extension during the election and never uninstalled it. I actually had no idea it would edit quotes on here... ha!

Help me find the right quote. One of these greek philosophers had a great quote about democracy. |
They sure did, with a high correlation between their tone and their distance from Athens.
But it's important to note that the 'democracy' they were referring to is fundamentally different than the 'democracy' of today. It's a dangerous road to assume that everything that shares a label must therefore be equivalent, especially if that's a prelude to getting all transitive with language and saying stuff like hey plato said glaucon said something about a city of pigs so therefore something something trump

But seriously, he does some of the worst, biased, and shitty reporting I've seen. He's like the liberal Bill o' Reilly. He really cherry picks his info and is super liberal biased. His piece on DFS was hot garbage as well as many others. The Daily Show w/ John Stewart was soooo much better. | Winner of 11 Courses of Thanksgiving

I feel 100% the opposite of you on this one, Igor. I actually think John Oliver's show is some of the best investigative journalism on TV. It's so thoroughly researched and that's part of why they only do one episode a week.
The Daily Show and John Oliver's show aren't exactly comparable IMO because one was only like 20-25 minutes long and mostly comedy (albeit it FANTASTIC. I miss Jon Stewart <3) whereas John Oliver's show is a full hour and really thorough stories. It's one various awards for this very reason. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

Honestly I think turning news into a comedy show isn't a great idea.
And then he's like naw im not a journalist so it's gucci
He's super misleading with a lot of his information.
There's really so much more gray area and other sides that he doesn't focus on, it really feels like he has an agenda to push, or more so a side that he feels is right and you have to stick by
Obviously not all of his stuff has been bad but I think he's a clown.
Stewart did a much better job of being more bipartisan where Oliver is very obviously extremely to the left
And this is coming from someone who watched every episode the day after it was on | Winner of 11 Courses of Thanksgiving

I miss Jon Stewart but Trevor Noah isn't bad. Anyway, I like both shows - anything that allows me to laugh at the mess we're in is welcome. | |
