Wait, wait, wait...WTF is a 'Pizza Department'? Is this like a Macy's store, where there are a ton of pizzas set out on tables and you can browse through them before deciding not to buy anything? Are there pushy ladies spraying you with all the scents of tomato sauce as you walk by? I'm really confused here. |
Picture a sbarro, with a sub shop next door and a sushi bar across the aisle. but in a supermarket. | |

Throw in an espresso bar, an actual bar (with eight or so taps of craft beer), and someone hand making tortillas. And a bunch of buy-by-the-pound stations with chinese, indian, or macaroni and cheese.
In a supermarket.
We usually take the pizza upstairs, look down on the people in the by-the-pound section, then make fake conversations for the people we see down there.

No Kroger I've been in has been much more than a regular grocery store, but it's been years for me, so maybe they changed. They did buy Harris Teeter but those are all the same as before. Whole Foods is closer to the concept, but bigger and with a lot more shit going on.

Nah, kinda like a bigger Whole Foods that also has some regular grocery stuff in addition to all the specialty organic ancient grains bullshit, and also has a sandwich/sub shop in addition to its regular pizza, sushi, bar, and kombacha areas.
