2-Headed Shark Attack. It's one of those movies by The Asylum, so that pretty much tells you what to expect.

FUUUUU I saw that starting on Syfy like an hour ago. Swamp Shark was coming after it.
I decided to rewatch the Fright Night remake on Showtime. I'm a fan, but I'm sure it's no 2-Headed Shark Attack.

Bamboozled
So I'm a pretty big fan of Spike Lee. I can understand why his STYLE can be divisive but I often find his films at the least very interesting. And when they're great (Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, 25th Hour) they're really fucking great.
This movie was kinda weird tho. I get the point, that the modern entertainment industry treats black entertainers and performers as clowns and that WE HAVEN'T COME ANY FURTHER IN DECADES etc. But still, the sheer odiousness of blackface makes the plot of the movie difficult. Even beyond the incomprehensible character arcs and bizarrely shitty video quality (i know it was early digital, but i can't believe a feature, widely-distributed film got this video quality), it doesn't really even work as satire. It's just loudly displaying crude and offensive images without much POINT even though it's clearly ANGRY
Also there's a bit early on where the detestable Michael Rapaport character is talking about why he can say nigger. What he says is "TARANTINO WAS RIGHT, SPIKE LEE HAS A STICK UP HIS ASS." Huh (:

The Place Beyond The Pines, the new Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper movie. Same director of Blue Valentine
Maybe the best movie I've seen this year. The twists it took were really unpredictable and some scenes were so tense. The plotting and structure were both very unique, you'll know what I mean when you see it. It's basically three movies in one
Bradley Cooper was amazing in it. He's been so great lately. Even EVA MENDES was good which is saying something
SEE IT! | |

^that movie was indeed good and totally worth a watch! and OF COURSE Eva was great...she's always great....she's the bestest! | "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS
I don't really know what happened to Dreamworks, or at what point it happened exactly, but it was very good, whatever it was, because between this, Frankenweenie, Brave, and Wreck It Ralph so far I think I give the edge to this movie. It was good! | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

Yes!
What'd you think? I need to rewatch that sometime. Maybe I'd actually understand more than 50% of it on second watch

Very interesting. I really love that they didn't dumb anything down at all. I was just as confused as I was supposed to be so it was very effective. The characters felt very real and so did the portrayal of scientists and discovery in general
A big part of them feeling real was the dialogue and the way they talked. They spoke over each other and stuff like that. The thing I hate the most about most movies is that the conversations are never natural at all. People take turns talking and it's all so rehearsed and fake. The low budget and non-flashy actors really helped with this and made me like it a lot
Have you seen the guys other movie? Upstream Color. I read that it was Tree of Life ISH but better. I may watch it today

Just got done watching it.
That was... so fucking strange. Even less accessible than Primer. Yet it was so mesmerizing. The first 30 minutes are just so surreal and fucked up, and after that it kinda settles down and isn't as exciting, but it still holds your interest.
I think I UNDERSTAND the overall point of the movie even though I'm sure I missed a lot of its intricacies. Pretty interesting concept!
I think I liked Primer a little more, but this is definitely worth watching too.
