The Fire!

Of course, the flaming part of the Flaming Panama Sunrise Backporch Side-winder Sourpatch Kid Siesta Surprise is fire.

I forgot to set the drink on fire!

There was probably a good reason for that.

Fire. Steve had probably subconsciously ignored that part because it brought back awful memories of that job gone wrong all those years ago.

Fire.

There was so much fire.

Steve was usually chill, but in that instant, he was so chill he was frozen. In fear. At the flames that engulfed the getaway car. That was their way out. And it was his fault.

How did I know Ryan had parked the van there? It's not like there was any communication equipment, as per usual. Yes, I probably shouldn't have packed the extra flammable paintballs. But this had been the most dangerous job they'd ever pulled and it was likely to get dicey.

What am I doing? I don't have time for this waddle down memory lane right now.

Snap out it, Steve!

He picked up an empty glass, threw it high in the air while he grabbed the vodka bottle, the pineapple juice, the Sourpatch Kids (3 of them this time!), caught the glass with his good wing, slammed it down gently on the bar in front of him, gave it a spin, added all the ingredients, while it was still spinning, gave himself a spin, and added the dash of cinnamon.

People were starting to wander over to see what was happening.

Steve looked to his right, saw the fire extinguisher there, and felt so much cooler about the fire.

He set Doomore's drink aflame which had created a small, brief fireball, and called for a caterer (where were those caterers?) to bring it over to the doctor.

Steve had attracted a large crowd, who had begun to order their own drinks.

It's working! I'm bar-tending! And I'm good at it!

And I'm distracting! A lot of people! I'm good at that too!

And the whole place is not on fire!

Not long after, Doctor Doomore walked back over to Steve.

She narrowed her eyes at him and said,

"That was the best damned Flaming Panana Sunrise Backporch Side-winder Sourpatch Kid Siesta Surprise I'd ever had. Fuckin' delicious."

"Surprise!" Steve replied with a smile.

Doomore responded with one of her own.


I think she likes me.

Imagine, hanging out with Dr. Liz Doomore. That would be pretty cool.

This could be a very good thing.

He thought of Nene.

Or a very bad thing.

I guess we'll see.

But for now Steve the bartender was on fire, and not literally!

"Anything you want tonight, you let me know," Steve said.

"Ditto," Doomore said, with a wink.

A very good thing, or a very bad thing.

I changed that roll to a 6 after I flashed back, hopefully that was done correctly. :P

I WAS going to wait, but didn't want this to die a slow death. lol

Saving my best/worst for last.

"Great, Percy! I think meeting would be a better idea with all those *gulp* hunters roaming about. Let's see.. where shall we meet?"

There was no answer.

"Percy?"

Louis heard some muffled sounds, and then a voice that didn't belong to his clever but kooky friend. It was a deep, gruff voice, but it was hard to make out words. He thought he heard the word 'Turkey' then more muffled but louder sounds.

But then, Louis heard a whisper come over the headset. A very clear whisper. It was unmistakable. "Louis! Help!"

Louis craned his neck in all different directions and surveyed the grounds.

He ventured out from the van leaving it and its precious cargo behind. Percy needed him! He wouldn't let him down.

Taking care to keep hidden in shrubbery, Louis crept closer and closer to the main entrance of the mansion.

From behind a topiary shaped like a rabbit, Louis spied the whale fountain. He scanned the area surrounding it until he saw a blue whale trash can close by. There was a hunter aiming the barrel of a shotgun right into it.

OH NO! This was worse than Louis had imagined.

A diversion, he needed a diversion. Quick!

Louis took a deep breath and then, in his best fox impression, started screaming. It sounded just like a woman screaming. Louis continued, watching the hunter look toward the sound. Great, this was working!
