Watched Odd Thomas last night. It was pretty decent for a movie based on teen books.

I actually read several of those, the first book was very enjoyable. But I didn't think it would translate well to a movie.

I was a big fan of Fences. It wasn't something that needed to be in movie format but I would've never experienced it otherwise, and I'm glad Denzel didn't excise/change parts of the play just to make it more "cinematic". A+ acting/dialogue |
Denzel was chewing up every scene ... his stories and energy were crazy.

I thought it worked well, but not sure what additional plots and twists they had in the book. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |

The worst part about it was the woman in front of me that laughed every time somebody opened their mouth.

I saw Split, from M night shamalamadingdong
I enjoyed it, and I had heard there was a reference to Unbreakable so I was paying attention for something small and Easter eggy. Then boop, least subtle tie-in ever

Watched Atomic Blonde last night. Pretty generic spy movie. Charlize Theron was HAWT. I barely remember the plot and will likely never watch it again.

I saw Ladybird yesterday and goddamn did it resonate with me. I can't think of a more relatable coming of age movie, specifically the main character's experience growing up Catholic and her close relationship with her father, sense of place/connection to her hometown, etc.
Really amazing movie. Highly recommend. I'm definitely expecting to sweep awards season.
Hoping to see Darkest Hour next. |
I love Saoirse Ronan, I want to see this.

Someone should make a thread with sites to watch movies, Survivor live streams, etc. Just an easy goto when you need it.
