the senate is was matters, especially for the democrats with a republic president. the problem here is that of the 33 seats available, only 8 are currently filled by republicans and the dems need to flip half of them. the democrats have 47 seats (24 up for election), so getting 4 more means they have a majority by party. although there are two independents to consider -- bernie will almost always side with the dems and angus king generally does, too. they both caucus with the dems, but aren't in the party (which can matter at times).

if the democrats can take the senate, it will completely neuter trump on things like healthcare or that fucking border wall. their best bets for flipping the four seats will be colorado, nevada, and then two from states where the republican incumbent is retiring (utah, arizona, tennessee). that last part will be a huge challenge and i doubt the dems will get it done. but if they just flip two and keep bernie and angus close, that'll reduce the republicans to 49 and that should be enough."

It has pretty much always flipped when this was the situation. If the dems manage not to flip it, they need to gut the whole party and start over.

Nah, the new site is pretty cool. Haven’t encountered any real errors during testing, just waiting for Darkus to fully outfit it before its released.

ahoda What did you do to finally get banned? I don't really know, but here's my honest guess: (1) I don't play enough games, so I'm not seen as a valuable member of the forum (2) Most of the time, I just joke around, but have a tough time stopping if someone starts taking it personally (3) Some of the time, I get into stupid debates and have a tough time letting the other person have the last word (4) I generally just shitpoast and don't contribute good threads (except in pursuit of 2 or 3 above) And there might be a (5), depending on whether the admins read people's private messages: Just recently, Zersch pm'd me asking why I killed off foresnaffle, and in the course of that discussion I explained why I don't really care to get invested in FE. I'm not ever going to host a game there, given how they banned Darkus for things other people did and didn't correct their mistake in any reasonable timeframe. (I think I also said something along the lines of "why bother creating a game if you're just one curtis bad hair day from it being ruined?") And then there's Tim, who I don't know at all, but who obviously cared about the forum a lot and was quickly discarded because the admins are too lazy to think of creative options with better outcomes. So why care at all, let alone as much as Tim did? Finally, there's (6), where Curtis locked Darkus' "Congrats America" thread to create a second season of it and I repeated my shtick about how he's the bad admin out to get Darkus (even though it was KC who banned him originally). In typical FFA style, there was a token ROIT because that's what you do in FFA -- but not in FE, where apparently no one got the stupid joke and both Curtis and KC thought the situation called for a crackdown. Only Darkus and Darren made threads and both said way more than I ever did, so I'm not sure why I took the brunt of it. Perhaps it's just KC's typical strategy to ban the wrong person for shock value, I dunno. And If I'm being charitable, then I'd have to say there's a rather large blindspot with the admins just assuming that people know why they've been banned. No one ever talked to me (again: lazy admins), so I'm left guessing what the issue was and what behavior they want changed. If I'm not being so charitable, then they're worse than lazy and anyone on FE shouldn't be surprised if they're randomly banned for no good reason. My advice? Don't get invested. One last thing: I realize that three paragraphs is an awful lot of care for someone who swears they don't, but I'm no stranger to textwalls and I want to make one more point in case this gets forwarded on to Curtis/etc. That point is this: it's your forum. Do what you want. If anyone doesn't like it, they can get the fuck out. If I'm a bad fit, then whatever, it's not my call. I don't have some inalienable right to post on FE. You can ban me for any reason, end of story. In fact, you don't even need a reason. It's not a democracy and you have the digital power. But at the same time, you have a public-facing forum with open registration, so you can't really stop me (nor have you). I'm perfectly happy with that arrangement, or if you want to have a maturity competition and see who can be the most reasonable, then we can do that too. In the meantime, let me repeat my appreciation for the FFA ethos of non-censorship and say again that I truly respect Darkus for having the thick skin and emotional stamina required to be a good admin. Not everyone has such confidence, that's for sure.
