I can't really recall finding much new music on YouTube. Although I think I did find Fugazi through it, which has turned into one of my favorite bands of all time. Most of my other music came from last.fm back in the day and Spotify these days.

I find a lot of videogame remixes on youtube that don't exist on other platforms.

Well none of these are obscure but:

I discovered Mateus Asato via youtube.

I think he's the most followed guitarist on Instagram, he's very good.

Also, Jacob Collier. He's got a very unique sound.

Pogo and Poppy became popular on youtube. The former is well known for his Disney remixes, and the latter, well, I'm sure most of you know already.

Artists aside, there are a lot of good channels focused on music as a subject that I like too. Here are some:

Lie Likes Music - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgIlmfJhLLBwTYvL4r-2hhg/videos

Polyphonic - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXkNod_JcH7PleOjwK_8rYQ/videos

Adam Neely - https://www.youtube.com/user/havic5/videos

Nahre Sol - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8R8FRt1KcPiR-rtAflXmeg/videos

Also, plug for a local gal called Katie Spencer. She's on Spotify too

Isn't this what the "Song you last listened too" thread is for?

IT’s what I use it for so I can click my own username and check out some new stuff when I am out of new music or when I’m drawing ;) ;) ;). This thread is nice though, I like it!

I don’t really use Spotify, most of the time I use youtube for listening music @ work.

“Mostly Strings” and “Wave of good noise” are good youtube channels for discovering new indie/folk imo.

I think I discovered Vancouver Sleep Clinic via a playlist Spotify put together for me based on my taste preferences, but then I found this live performance of theirs on Youtube and I loooove it.

I almost exclusively use spotify and occasionally soundcloud, so p much the only thing I use youtube for music-wise is songs I liked that have been removed from spotify, which off the top of my head is just these two

Pogo's awesome, I must have like half of his songs favorited on spotify. It's a shame that he's apparently a huge piece of shit irl but uhh...great music nonetheless! (:

this is the one I come back to the most

I discovered Jeff Pianki on Spotify, but this version of "Song About" that I found on youtube is perfect.
