So glad I watched 4 and 5 back to back, that cliffhanger/tease would have annoyed me.

Only two episodes left.

And I still don't know whether to post in here or the main TD topic. Early in the season I had hopes of it hitting the high of S1 and it looked like it was going to for a bit. I'm still enjoying the mystery, but it's missing the sense of... dread? I guess? that the first season had. Where it was like, true crime horror or something. It had almost a paranormal feeling.

This one gave a taste of that early on, but it appears to be shaping up to be pretty standard. At least it seems that way. I can't decide who my favorite actor in this season is. Hays, Roland, and Tom Purcell's actors are all knocking it out of the park.

Tonight's episode delivered some dread. The score is so good. Like in the scene with Hays and Roland pulling up to the barn. Curious to see what all comes to light in the finale next Sunday. Also I was unreasonably happy to see Season 1 get mentioned, and the newspaper with Rust and Marty on the cover.

I think I'm gonna rewatch S1 soon.

Agreed @ the score, especially that one part. I heard that and was like OOOOO some shit is about to go DOWWWWWWWN

Poor Tom. Scoot is a great actor, he stole nearly all of his scenes

That was Michael Rooker's unmistakable voice on the phone at the end. Him as the big bad appearing in just the finale is exciting

So excited for the finale tomorrow night.

Scoot McNairy is definitely someone I will pay more attention to going forward. Not that I ignored him before... but he DELIVERED with this role. And yup! That voice is unmistakable.

Watch them do a bait and switch and have it be Luis Guzman with Rooker's voice.

Verdict: A little underwhelmed. Well, maybe just... whelmed.

Was fine, and was at pace with the rest of the season. There just wasn't a whole lot of mystery left and I guess that's the main pull for me when it comes down to it. It's weird that the show does feel like it lost something with Scoot's exit, when he wasn't a main-main character. Still... better than season 2. I know that isn't saying much for most people. Still far below Season 1 despite my early excitement. I'm going to start that Season 1 rewatch this week for sure.

Two of my favorite parts of tonight's episode:

S03E08+

It was a different angle to take on a story like this but I feel like it only barely worked out in the end. Or maybe the nuance was lost on me, or I was only half-watching this last episode.

LB does this really stupid thing with tv. They’ve got really random episodes of seasons or tv shows on there. Like the Black Mirror episodes I get but still don’t like their inclusion, but they also have like...Band of Brothers as a 12 or whatever hour long movie? And things like the entire recent season of Twin Peaks, any HBO mini series, each Sherlock episode, and other worse examples that I can’t remember

It irrationally bothers me. However, Nathan for You: Findinf Frances is one of the best reviewed “movies” of all time on Letterboxd so that makes it all worth it

Go on LB and filter by highest rated of all time, you’ll see what I mean. A breaking bad behind the scenes video is like the fourth highest rated movie of all time. I wish they’d get rid of that shit

Also, I was flipping back and forth between the finale & the Oscars so it was kind of cool to see Mahershala Ali get a best supporting actor award for Green Book while the finale was going on.
