I thought this was going to be a serious discussion. I'm disappointed.

It's tough, because a lot of older horror films are ruined by what are now pretty cheesy effects but which then had some extremely creepy elements that stuck with you. Classic like Children of the Corn were pretty freaky, up until the cheesy glowy thing that eats the people on crosses at the end. That fucking kid in the hat is freaky as hell, though. It never hurts to have a Steven King short story as your basis either.
Misery I think really captured the Stephen King novel.
I'm still gonna have to think of what movie really kept me from going to bed. Psycho had me watching out of my shower curtain a lot after watching it. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |

The Shining is my favorite horror movie but I wouldn't consider it the scariest.
I remember watching the Grudge in theaters and getting FUCKED UP! I was afraid of asian people for almost an entire year.

My answer was serious Buffy. I watched it in 1st grade, most scared I've ever been. I don't watch scary movies. There was a scene in POTC 2 that really got me, and the Dark Knight the mayor's office scene was super loud in theaters. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? The first jump scare I ever remember as a kid was watching Jaws for the first time when they are inspecting the hull of Gardeners boat and his head rolls into the opening of the hull. I think I shart myself that day.

I hated the jump scare in the Ring where the mother is talking about finding her daughter in the closet and then you see her face all morphed. GIVES ME CHILLS!

My answer was serious! I can't think of a single horror movie that ever really scared me but that scene made baby drrr scared to turn on the TV for weeks and gave me nightmares
IN FACT IF YOU WANT A SERIOUS DISCUSSION, I'd argue the tropes and concepts in that 2 minute ren and stimpy clip are scarier than MOST mediocre-to-average horror films. | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

When I was a kid, Children of the Corn was scary, but so were the omen and the exorcist..
The scariest movie of my childhood was "The day After", though.
