Oh
I won’t count the 1 vote in the average then if no one claims it as theirs. It was probably someone being a lil brat

It might have been Miko wanting to vote 10 but hitting the wrong one, since he appears to like the film enough to own it. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |

I didn't read whatever you said about stalker - I hate to be spoiled about movies I haven't seen lol.

If you watch Stalker, set aside a long period of time.
I can recommend much better Russian films that didn't put me to sleep, including others from Tarkovsky. The Sacrifice is fantastic and everyone should see the original Solaris over the Clooney one, but that's my crazy opinion.

Haha, haven’t voted yet. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen it and my movie-taste has changed a little since then so I wanna give it a rewatch so that there isn’t any nostalgia-tinted opinions.
Also, did you see the part I wrote about Dancer in the Dark, Vlady? That’s also my favorite Von Trier movie! | 'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

And from what I remember of the actual movie itself, I’d probably give it a 7... only reason I have it on blu-ray is because it’s a visual spectacle that deserves to be seen in the best quality. | 'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

Vlady, you should've watched Mysterious Skin - my choice for this FE Watches. If Dancer in the Dark made you feel depressed, I wonder how you’d react to that. | 'Oh my god, it's full of stars!'

I'll see when we get a chance to see if it is available on one of our various access points. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |

hey I watched this. I wasn't sure about it at first since a lot of the early parts draaaaagged but the amazing visuals at least kept my interest through that. But it really picked up for me around the midway point
|
Part Two almost felt like a different movie entirely and I kinda feel like it would've been better off having the whole movie more like that. All the characters coming to terms with the possibility of humanity's extinction and trying to hold out hope that Melancholia will just pass by. As it is it kinda feels like Part One was almost superfluous? Like it set up Justine's declining mental health and maybe some of her outlook on humanity being evil, but that's about it?
Dunst was really good in this and definitely carried the movie. Sutherland was kinda (:
Tim swooping in with Justine IMMEDIATELY after Michael leaves made me laugh. There were a few really idiosyncratic moments like that throughout the movie interrupting all the somberness
The last moments of the movie were really really beautiful. Loved that whole ending sequence |

WELL THAT WAS SOMETHING!
I agree with Boc that there were a couple of scenes (mostly in the beginning that dragged for me. Although once we got into the wedding reception, I was pulled in by this awkward aura of tension going on.
Apparently this film was made to examine the different ways people handle grief. This movie definitely felt like a character piece that I thought was executed well but I just handle trouble keeping focus throughout the whole thing.
Gave it a 6. | |

I really wanted to like this. I didn't. (sorry Vlady - you were right!!) I had high hopes because of some of the cast: Kirsten Dunst, Alexander Skarsgård, Stellan Skarsgård, Kiefer Sutherland.
Anyway, I couldn't get into it at all. First, the long 9 minute opening was excruciatingly painful. Then, I got hopeful again but ended up being super bored. I even took a break before finishing it. I was trying to understand the whole point of it which to me was, a bunch of unhappy, messed up people who were all about to die, anyway. I felt really bad for the groom when he was so in love with her and she was just so irreparably damaged.
How depressing this was. |

I gave it a 4. I didn't HATE it and I liked the visuals. But there wasn't any part of the movie that I really felt anything other "Can the planets collide already"
