I tried to balance my list with more general importance and contributions to the crew. Thus some personal traits weren't taken in too much consideration (since people actually can change in extreme circumstances).


1. Nate. Yes, this might go wrong, but maybe we need more experienced medical knowledge.

3. Carly. No moral judgement in this boat! Nurse who just saved a life, come in.

4. Rory. If navigating the boat is essential, so is Rory.

6. Mike. General importance.

7. Brett. I just couldn't let him die immediately.

10. Dom. His partner is not onboard, so the children might not even have someone else to care over them. Also, being a chef might help if the jorney gets too long.

11. Martha. General importance, specially if she's from a 3rd world country.

12. Richard. Couldn't let such a lifestory end like that. He may or may not be my lover in this trip.

15. Matthew. I would let him out if I realize we have a decent amount of food. But I'm hoping he changes his mindset after this experience.

Nate: Leave Behind
We don't need a doctor if we have a nurse. He is nervous and an addict, which would result in the passengers taking care of the Doctor than vice verse. He is also the oldest person here and lived the longest life.

Carly: Save (Spot 1 of 9)
With leaving Nate behind, Carly guarantees herself a seat being a nurse. She has already shown she can save a life by saving the drowning child. It's an easy decision. The fact she is a prostitute means absolutely nothing. You do you, girl.

Rory: Save (Spot 2 of 9)
He is charged with murder so there is the instinct to leave him behind. But he is apparently the only one who can navigate the raft. (??? weird) Unless that means he knows the general direction and how to get us to safety. In a survival aspect, he has to have a seat to ensure my own and everyone else on the lifeboat's survival. He can go to jail when we are ashore.

Saul: Leave Behind
He is mentally disturbed and could be a detriment to our safety during our journey to shore. Who cares that he holds important government secrets. Guarantee he isn't the only one in the know of said secrets.

Brett: Save (Spot 3 of 9)
You don't abandon the only child. He should get to live a longer life. The passengers can take care of him. It's not like it would be that difficult to help him eat. Speaking of eating....

Matthew: Save (Spot 4 of 9)
Yeah he is a horrible person but he has the food to help us survive that much longer and he earns his spot in this life or death situation by having a necessity.

Martha: Leave Behind
She doesn't provide much help for anyone and she is one of the older people. The fact she is a Nun kind of makes the decision easier...like she should understand right???

Amy: Save (Spot 5 of 9)
She is a mother with two children. Thinking of the children growing up without parents is sad, and it's almost like leaving Brett behind.

Russ: Save (Spot 6 of 9)
Married to Amy, securing his spot. Children need their daddy too. I'm sure he is capable and could be helpful as a young adult.

Jimmy: Save (Spot 7 of 9)
Young and in love, just starting out in life with his wife. This is a compassion save.

Mary: Save (Spot 8 of 9)
Young and in love, just starting out in life. This is a compassion save.

Marcus: Leave Behind
He is young and that is sad to leave behind, but he doesn't have anything else in his description that merits safety. Compared to Russ who is also the same age, at least Russ has a family.

Dom: Save (Spot 9 of 9)
He is married with three children at home. Family needs him.

Richard: Leave Behind
By default really. He was a soldier so he should know what it's like to put people before him. He is also one of the oldest so letting the younger people live is the way I'm going.

Mike: Leave Behind
Useless. He does good for the world but there is nothing that merits safety over people who have children / marriages.

1. Nate - the doc, because even though he’s going to be a headache, he’s a doc.
2. Carly - the prostitute. In case we need to throw the annoying doc overboard. She seems helpful.
3. Rory - the murderer. He knows how to navigate the boat.
4. Matthew - the neo nazi. He’s got the food.
5. Amy - the housewife. She and Russ got kids at home. We will see about Russ, maybe.
6. Brett - paralyzed kid. Tug on those heart strings. Carly can take care of him.
7. Dom - the Jew. He’s got kids at home.
8. Mary - playgroup helper. She’s so young.
9. Jimmy - the pharmacist. Bc he’s married to Mary and he’s younger.

Marcus, jimmy and Richard were battling for that last spot. As a minister, Marcus probably wants jimmy to have the spot. Richards been through a lot, time for him to let go.

The nun should want the others to have her spot. The government is going to pay me off for leaving Saul behind. Sorry mike, youve had a good run. Amy’s going to be better off without you Russ.

Have to bring along the 2 assholes for group survival reasons.

If I could tweak two things:

1. I would swap Mike for Amy. That way the two kids back home have their mom and she can lie to them and tell them their shitty alcoholic father (stepfather?) died a heroic death out on the high seas.

2. I would have Rory circle the lifeboat back around the leftovers just to leave Brett behind again.

Through the whole scenario, despite reading lifeboat, I imagined a lil tugboat instead.

Realistically, the pressure of having to choose who lives and who dies would be too much for me and I would leave as soon as I saw the lifeboat

My 9 Passengers Include:
1. Nate. Tough call keeping him over someone younger, but a Dr. I think is important.
3. Carly. - Tough call a nurse? Kind of self explanatory, but I won't put up with the sex. ;)
4. Rory. - Hate to keep him but we have to navigate this thing somewhere.
8. Russ. - Good dude in construction, so he's handy to help out as well.
9. Amy. - Can't leave a young mother with 2 orphans.
13. Jimmy. - Just can't leave a couple and Don't see taking one without the other.
14. Mary. - Can't leave someone with their whole life ahead of them.
7. Brett. - sorry I can't leave behind any child no matter their situation.
15. Matthew. - hate to save this douche but I'm not sure how long the trip is and everyone that lives needs food.

Leaving Behind...
5. Saul. - Easy Cut, imo
6. Mike. - Nice guy but he's lived into his 50's
2. Marcus. - Tough cut here, but he needs to make his peace with God. I saved other youngsters.
10. Dom. - Another tough cut, but a had to sacrifice him for younger couples/families.
11. Martha. - She is gonna pray with Marcus.
12. Richard - Another tough cut for me but took Matt and his food over him.

Poor Saul, he sucks at life.
