So I didn't post any spoilers for the last half of the game. The reasons are, I realized this is the exact same game as Bioshock 1 with the only differences are a couple weapons. Still I loved the game and it was fun, but it is very disappointing there weren't any new abilities to play with. The last half of the game I was able to use bees and making the enemies fight each other and not even use any weapons. It was so OP. Also, the hacking in this game is just awful. There are points I just wanted to rage and throw my controller through my TV. Wish they would have had an option to buy it out like in Bioshock 1. The most irritating thing for me in this game, was no boss fights. I was expecting some great end game boss fight, but there just isn't one. You have a huge onslaught at the end, but using the 2 abilities I mentioned above I was able to sit there and watch the computer kill itself and not do a damn thing.
On to the things I do like. The little sister orphanage was so well done. It was my favorite room of the entire game. It was spooky and extremely sad at the same time. The audio tape there just adds to the ambiance and the evil laughing in the back ground just put me on edge. Such a great piece of gaming there. The music was so good in this game and it did a really good job setting the mood. The Big Sister fights were very difficult. I had to fight one when I had no ammo early on and I had to rely on melee attacks. I died at least 20 times and it was so infuriating.
I did the good ending and saved everyone. It did give me ample amounts of ADAM to get everything I wanted. I feared I wouldn't by not killing the sisters but that wasn't the case.
I have the the DLC for Minerva's Den but I will pass on that for now as I want to play through Infinite first. 2 was a very good game and was an interesting take on how Rapture continued on after the first on ended. I did have to read the Wiki on both games just to see how everything was sewed in together. Definitely recommend this series to anyone gamer. |

Here we GOOOOOOO
The whole point of me replaying Bioshock 1 was that I was gonna replay the trilogy and play the DLCs (for the first time) and compare them all while they were fresh in my mind. Here I am continuing three years later! Yippee
I said this back then but 1. Apparently there’s a loyal fan base that prefers Bioshock 2 to the others even tho it’s known as the worst one and 2. I forget everything that happens in it. So this’ll be interesting
|
Even just the menu and the music again had be immediately hyped
I love the Big Daddy/Little Sister dynamic so MUUUUUUCH. Aaand he’s dead
Can’t wait for audio diaries and new characters. That was the highlight of the first game, I absolutely loved piecing together their stories and finding out how the characters died using context clues, it was usually tragic or fucked up. I think at the bottom of each post I’ll write who’s tape I found for that stage. First one was BIG KATE
“Lamb is watching.” I think that’s the lady from the opening, I forget
First Plasmid found. Electro Bolt
Mark Meltzer looking for his daughter Cindy that is nooot gonna end well for him. Never does in this series!
First brief Little Sister fight. Love the sound design for them. They seem fairly formidable. Not as cool as Big Daddies or Songbird obviously but they’re still p dope
Being able to walk on the ocean floor in your suit is sickkkkkk. Visuals look great
Short and sweet intro. Good start
DIARIES:
Big Kate
Rachelle Jacques
Sofia Lamb
Tenenbaum
Mark Meltzer
Andrew Ryan! |

New hacking feature, goodbye PIPES!
Telekinesis plasmid found
Mark Meltzer has no idea how fucked he is. Poor sap
Ohhh Eleanor is Sofia Lamb’s daughter. Got it
Suchong mention!
I don’t trust this Sinclair fellow one bit so far
That was a quick one! Fine level. The theme of the area wasn’t as tight as I’d like. Best areas in the first game had very specific themes
Also unlike the first game apparently you can’t backtrack?? HEYYYYY! That’s terrible! I just read that if you miss an audio diary you have to play the game from scratch. What a bunch of baloney!

Prentice Mill

There’s an image here that looks like a reference to The Thing poster!
Love this museum bit before the amusement stuff. With the little dioramas with audio stories. This kinda stuff is what the series does best
Got my first classic Bioshock jumpscare from this son of a bitch splicer
Ugh time for my first Big Daddy fight. I hate killing them :( . I feel so bad!!!
Aw you become her new Big Daddy. Cute
Nice little Easter egg with a golf club next to Andrew Ryan’s animatronic
My first death! My first..two deaths in a row. Protecting the little sisters while they gather Adam isn’t as easy as I thought it’d be. Such a careful balance of being stingy with your ammo and Adam, you can run out of either so quickly
Op, there’s our first tragic audio tape death. Nina Carnegle, the teacher who was protecting the kids. Audio tape about how she was slowly starving to death and gave her food to the kids found on her emaciated corpse. Fucked up! And the kids drew things around her body :(((
Rescued my first little sister over harvesting her obv. I’ll do that every time. I’m sure there’s gonna be more to getting the good ending than just that the second time around but I’ll def be shooting for the good one
Love the fucked up vandalized animatronic Andrew Ryan’s
Aaaaand my first crash. Uh oh! I remember people bitching about the remastered crashing a lot but I don’t recall having any issues with the first one. This has run incredibly smoothly for me up til now
Oh uh. It restarted the entire level for me. And I was right at the end. Cool cool cool!
That’s all for now until I have the heart to replay through all of that
Edit: I just got it over with now and flew through it. First Big Sister fight was intense, great music
Aaand done. I was literally right at the end with it crashed. Brutal!

Some sorta new brute enemy, I don’t remember these at all
Another audio death: Prentice Mill. The man who built the train
Oh and now Tobias Riefers! The corpse that gave me the shotgun
Picked the Decoy plasmid of all things just to try it. Doesn’t seem to work?? They just ignore my decoy and run straight to me, idgi
Research Camera discovered, hazzah
I found a hidden meth lab. And a dead lady cradling her dead cat rip
Also here’s something very fun and very cool. My control key is another key that hardly works now too. And it happens to be the use medkit button! Very inconvenient when you’re in a boss fight and need to spam medkits quick. Time to change that button I think
Now I found a dead lady and her dead caged bird
Ahhh so here’s where the good or bad or mixed ending comes into play. Sparing Holloway and likely others to come. That’s cool, but assuming that by sparing all of them I’ll get the good ending, it won’t ever be a choice at all? Unless you have to spare and kill the right people based on what they’ve done, now THAAAT would be morally gray
Anyway I spared Grace Holloway, no question. They did a great job of making her super creepy, though clearly manipulated by Lamb. She had a sad descent into madness. But then she turns into my ally! The shady Sinclair was ofc egging me on to kill her
Also, some of my favorite Bioshock moments are when you finally see an NPC in the flesh after hearing their voices on tapes for so long. It’s always such an oh shit moment even though it’s nothing that big, it’s just cool to actually finally see them

I've been INSPIRED to finally give this one a try. My expectations are low but we'll SEE! Gonna start tonight prob
I've constantly heard that the Minerva's Den DLC is one of the best parts of the series so tbh half the reason I'm playing is to get to that

Going from that (p rough graphically) opening cutscene into the actual gameplay showed just how much the remastered changed things, damn. What a CONTRAST!
Didn't finish this part yet but ended when my little sister got the second dose of ADAM. I can already see why people say this has the best combat of the series tbh, it's well-done. Although if you die at certain points it can be BRUTAL! I was stuck in an endless loop for a while getting the second ADAM harvest cuz all the ammo/resources I spent fending off the splicer swarm in previous lives didn't replenish so I had to keep playing the same encounter over and over...eventually with next to no ammo or EVE (: Feel like that could've been thought out better!
Also I somehow completely forgot Telekinesis was a plasmid in the first game, I love it tho. Mostly cuz it's literally the gravity gun from Half-Life 2 aka one of the best guns in all of gaming
The museum displays were fun, kind of a minor league version of the Hall of Heroes
That audio diary about Suchong's successor talking about Big Daddies I think is already an area where this contradicts Burial at Sea but o well (:
lol that Eleanor/Sofia Lamb connection got revealed QUICKLY! I thought her whole motive would remain much more of a mystery for a while. Between that and the Andrew Ryan exposition about Sinclair etc, I dunno if the game is just much more FORWARD about its story or if they're just lulling you in just to uncork some twists with everyone's motives later, we'll see
OG Big Daddy sound effects still slap, that screen shake too. TIMELESS enemy!
Still waiting to feel some SPOOKS! Either I'm desensitized to splicers at this point or Levine was just more effective at wringing the horror out of Rapture, I dunno. Definitely feels more action less horror at this point, which is fine I guess but def DIFFERENT! |

The Siren level crashed four times straight on me last night D:
I was streaming to Jacob on discord so I’m hoping that was why. Maybe the game just didn’t like that. We’ll see!

Telekenis made fighting the Rumbler ezzzzz
The speared corpse on the wall was nasty. Speargun is a dope weapon so far
aaand it crashed! Thank god I keep saving it after last time. Made it much future before crashing though so that’s...something
I’ll edit this post when I play again
Aaaand let’s try this again!
Spider slicers are a thing now. They’re some nasty villains
Good god it had been a bit since my last Big Sister fight so when I rescued my third lil sis I was NOT prepared! The noise started and it scared me. I used hypnotize on a big daddy to turn him on my side against the big sister, it worked perfectly. But then I had to fight him when she was dead, I think hypnotizing counts as an attack
Aaand a crash! I’ve been saving like crazy tho and I’m right at the end. To be continued
Aaaand done. I was so close before that crash
Good stage. Some fun fights in this one. Sometimes I’m like, way too set on cash and EVE and ammo and can’t pick ANYTHING up. Then other times I’m struggling. Mostly I’m doing p good though. Most of my tonics are health and EVE and ADAM based so I’m cranking all three of those out
Got the insect swarm plasmid. The hand is pretty gnarly looking. I remember the insect hand from the first looking nastier but this is still cool

welp, fun while it lasted? (: My game crashed and wiped out almost an hour of gameplay. Could be WORSE but I have like zero patience for replaying long stretches of games soo idk!
funny that Cyberpunk crashed exactly zero times for me yet this game that's been out for over 4 years is what did it for me

Cmon man!! Think of Minerva! Think of that DEN!
Replaying was disheartening when it happened to me but tbh, objective wise you can really fly straight through once you’ve experienced the story and atmosphere. That’s what I did and it was so easy
And then you’ll get used to saving p frequently (:
