It wasn't bad as a show. I was entertained throughout. But after the first 4 seasons its just lame. The good guys always win and the bad guys lose. Part of me wished that Theon would have died at the scene with the sand.

I am also worried this will take part in the books and instead of the great scenes like the red wedding and Oberyn vs. the mountain we'll be stuck with Littlefinger's silly downfall.

Besides that though I really enjoyed the episode. Its just been held to such a high standard which makes it kind of lame. I was rooting for Jaime to die just for the shock value and Cersei just completely going me, myself and I... and I love Jaime.

Kind of Book Spoilers+

I'd be shocked if Littlefinger's death in the books is anything like this, assuming he dies at all. Even if it is, I'm sure it'll be much more fleshed out and play out more organically

Really the only 'satisfying' death in the books so far unless I'm forgetting someone is Joffrey's, which mostly just leads to Cersei becoming more insane. I'm sure the books are headed towards a bittersweet ending rather than complete nihilism, so the Ramsays/Walders of the world probably will start to fall, but again it'll probably make a lot more sense when it happens

god I really wanna read TWOW now :(

considering that LF is marrying Sansa to Harry in the books (the heir to the vale), it'll for sure be more satisfactory in the books because they won't shoehorn Sansa up to the North.

As soon as they made the stupid decision to marry Sansa to Ramsay, you knew LF's entire arc would be doomed because actions have consequences, but if the actions don't make sense, then there is no respect or emotional value associated with the consequences. It's all a chain reaction and it started with season 5 making bad decisions for characters that had series-long arcs going on.

It's like with Varys, his arc got ruined as soon as they cut out fAegon and he has no purpose to the show anymore (coincidentally a s5 decision). Same goes for Brienne and Jamie - they've been going around in circles since season 5 because of the exclusion of Lady Stoneheart. If they were going to deviate from the books they should've planted the seeds earlier because every character had been built up to something that would never happen - they just all went into contradictory directions. Ofcourse D&D couldn't have known that GRRM wouldn't have finished the books once they signed up for the show but damn, then don't sign up for an unfinished series, like lol that seems self-explanatory but whatever.

Cersei and her three minions are the only villainous people left on the show. That's kinda crazy. There used to be a bunch of colorful villains and grey characters but now they've all been culled. And the heroes are all very clearly heroes, none are morally grey at all

eh I don't think she really froze with Tyrion, she definitely wants him dead. It was just the strategic move so that Dany/Jon would still pack up and head north under the guise of a truce

naw she lame

I did like Jamie telling Cersei to go fuck herself and calling out her bluff but it's a big contrast to his "fuck everyone who isn't us" not long ago. His character is so inconsistent

Man this whole season was a fan service, yes it had great moments but too many inconsistencies, the ice dragon white walker stuff was pretty much how I figured the end would be, I guess final season will be, deal with white walkers, then deal with Cersei, in 6 episodes? So three episodes for White Walkers, then 3 for Cersei to end it with possibly Jon and Dany fighting once they know the truth?

I kinda doubt Jon wants the throne enough to turn it into them fighting

So is Tyrion...supposed to be in love with Dany? Was that why he was so upset about her and Jon together? Apparently some people took it as he loves her and others took it as if he plotted against her in his deal with Cersei or some shit, I don't remember getting that vibe at all

I didn't get those vibes either, he did seem concerned, maybe because he might lose his place to Jon?

Maybe they just felt the scene wasn't bad enough after like 4 episodes of teasing so they threw him in there to make it even more meh.

Too many winks at the audience in this one as reminders. They pulled so many groups of people together and each time they did it they had the same shot of different pairings giving each other knowing glances cause the audience had to be reminded that there's some significant rivalry there. Ellaria and The Mountain, Jaime and Euron, Tyrion and Davos. Every time it happened I rolled my eyes

Quote

"Hey you, shall we remind the audience how we're connected?"
"Sure, allow me to begin!"

And then they just fall back into line and a different pair comes forward to do the same thing. Not only did it happen over and over in a 10 minute stretch alone, but its been happening ALL season more than any other

It makes more sense for people who haven't seen each other but the worst are people who haven't even met but have an acquaintance in common who happens to come up

I counted, these types of shots/interactions happened exactly seven hundred and eighty-five times in this episode

We don't really think Tormund and Beric are dead do we? People are just assuming they died. Surely they wouldn't save Tormund from a brutal death last week just to kill him off screen here
