lol why Cersei?
To me she's like Joffrey, but instead of being love-to-hate she's more just loathsome

I think a lot of it has to do with the performance. She's just really tragic and compelling, I think. Even in moments of supposed triumph she is incapable of being happy. She's forced to live with the ugliness of her world (and as de facto ruler she is basically a purveyor of that ugliness) and her own life and, apparently unable to change that, she decides to PASS ON the pain. I don't LIKE her but I don't like Tywin either.
Season 3 ended! The finale wasn't too bad, though it suffered from the CHECKLIST problems that the other ones had. They needed to resolve every plot point so each gets like five minutes to actually be on screen. I think it's funny how in a show where every book gets at least 10 hours (and if I'm not mistaken book 3 is seasons 3 AND 4?), they still need to condense plot points and character arcs.
Like, there was one moment where Jaime and Brienne arrived at King's Landing and they had a brief exchange of glances that lasted maybe half a minute, followed by Jaime arriving to Cersei. Nothing LINGERED. The finales are my least favorite because they don't really get too many good character moments.
One thing I liked was the HORROR of the opening, when the Stark camp is invaded. So hopeless and scary in this POST-ROBB world. Still the look on Arya's face was heartbreaking, when she was so close. Arya herself is looking to FUCK SOME SHIT UP and that's awesome/also kind of scary.
Overall season 3 was basically very good even though the emphasis on WEDDINGS and relationships got a bit melodramatic at times. If the book was split in half for these seasons I can totally see the RESULTS, because it felt like wheels spinning for a few points. Theon's storyline, which was really strong in season 2, just became him being tortured for a couple episodes, and it felt as though nothing had been GAINED from that.
Dany's plotline was pretty interesting for the most part, even though it ended with her crowdsurfing to Enya.

If my dick got chopped off, I would require atleast a season and a half of coverage. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

well to be fair...
not really spoilers but explains the difference between the books and the show re: theon...
edit: well, it is spoilers unless you've seen up to season 3.
|
theon is presumed dead from the end of book 2 all the way until book 5. of course, by the time he's shown in book 5 he's been tortured a lot and all that jazz. so i guess to make sure we didn't forget about him, they included all the torture scenes and the de-dicking. |
though i'd agree, it was more than necessary.
