I didn't have a thread open while I watched this one so no LIVE THOTS. I never have anything substantial to say as I go anyway and it usually just distracts me
This one was good. I liked seeing Bunny's type of reform juxtaposed with Stringer's. The show is at its best when its showing how the government and DA STREETS deal with the same type of situations IMO. Somewhat reflected when Bunny said he feels for and identifies with the situation that the drug dealer lieutenants are in. It's cool to see some of of the dealers resilient to the reform as well as some of the cops. Some people on both sides want it to stay exactly how it is
Best scene was when Herc rounded up the addicts and loaded them in the wagon then just dumped them in Hamsterdam. They were like a bunch of wild animals when the back door opened up and they were released. That one guys line was so good, "..the fuck?!" And whats-his-name season one cop telling Johnny to try the WMD
Marlo and Stringer's meeting was good. Stringer seemed to think he was talking sense into Marlo but then Marlo tells his guy to make sure everyone arms up. Excited to see how that plays out
KING AVON IS FREE!!! I'm so happy. He's the best character. Avon at the club seemed somewhat confused, like all the business talk was foreign to him and it bored him. It's clear he has no interest in it and I'm sure him and String will butt heads over it. It reminded me a bit of Cutty walking around the party in the last episode not used to that new lifestyle, but the opposite
It was nice to see McNulty and Stringer sharing a longer scene together. I loved McNulty's "I had high fucking hopes for us." line to him. Like he's really disappointed that Stringer's gone straight because he wanted to play the cat and mouse game more. I like how casual they are together
Bunk talking to the prisoners about the missing gun was funny too. I lol'd at the one guy who asked Bunk if it had to be an officer's gun because he could get him any type of gun |

hahaha LOOK THE PART BE THE PART MOTHERFUCKER.
Really a lot of the show is funny, more than you'd expect from a show with such an ACADEMIC following and intention. | |

I liked this one. Mostly because of the Avon and Cutty focus
The scene with Avon and Stringer is one of my favorites. String's so clearly frustrated that he can't convince Avon to change his outlook. Avon fighting that change is my favorite part of the season so far. This line is one of the best:
"Yeah I ain't no suit wearing business man like you. I'm just a gangsta I suppose. And I want my corners."
The shootout was good. I love a good corner shootout. Then the second one, when Cutty had Fruit in his sights. I was so conflicted. On one hand I wanted so badly for Cutty to get revenge and shoot Fruit's smug as fuck face. On the other I didn't wanna see Cutty fall deeper back into..THE GAME! His scene with Avon was really good, when he told him he was done. I didn't want Avon to be pissed or even violent and I was glad when he wasn't, AND he even stood up for Cutty to Slim, saying that he's a man today. Good scene
Bunk and Omar's scene was good too. Strange to see Bunk so serious but it was nice. Omar needed to wipe his chin.
FINALLY the task force gets a focus. I've missed the big cork board full of pictures and notes and threads. Took halfway through the season to finally get them on track but I guess that's deliberate. Slow build INDEED! Once I see how their case pans out maybe I'll understand why the writers had them take this long. Or maybe it's just not as important to this season or to the show anymore
FUNNY SCENES: Avon and Slim Charles rattling off all these goofy names of past muscle they could try to use. And the opening with the police absolutely demolishing the dealer's rights and doing all this shit to them. Throwing their shoes down a drain, filling the wagon with pepper spray and dumping them off in the middle of the forest. P. fucked up |
