I think I liked it a lot more than I remember liking episode 1. tbh I don't remember much about 1x01 though besides the Dazed & Confused ending and the guy shooting himself. Fortunately it's not exactly a plot-heavy show so I don't think I'm missing much
The dialogue between Daniel and his brother(?)'s wife was definitely the best part of the episode. I think Netflix kinda is spoiling me about something though, cuz the show's background shows Daniel and her standing together (: Not too surprising after what was sown this episode though
tbh I'm still not entirely convinced that he didn't do it though. That confession was so...detailed. Like I know Daniel's always been a strange guy, but the part about holding Hannah's hand after she died seems like something that wouldn't just come out of a coerced confession. I'd LIKE to think he didn't do it but stuff like that makes me dubious
Favorite dynamic for me was definitely Daniel/Tawny. I loved all their scenes together. It's kinda refreshing to have a religious character that's not treated as a joke/fanatic. I mean personally I'm agnostic, so it's not like I'm personally offended when shows/movies do that, but it usually feels really lazy and narrow-minded. And especially on this kind of show, Tawny's views really fit with the whole meditative tone
Also even though I knew that S2 starts with Daniel in a coma (really the only thing I was "spoiled" on), so I figured something like that ending would happen, it still was pretty tough to watch. One thing I like though is no character is truly treated like a villain. Like obviously most people aren't gonna like Ted or Hannah's brother, but you can at least empathize with their viewpoints
YUP, that scene was so good, my favorite of the season. I rewatch it constantly. I thought he was sitting by Kerwin's grave at the end there but I loved the reveal that it was Hannah's
What'd you think about his attack on Ted JR? My jaw dropped when that happened, seeing him be violent like that was really shocking since he never is. It's so effective compared to most other shows when violence is overused and not really a big deal

Are you liking it more now?

lol yeah I forgot to mention that, when he said something about visiting a friend I at first assumed he was talking about Tawny. Then for a split-second I thought it could've been the hairdresser when they showed her looking out the window. Then when they showed him at the grave I thought it must've been Kerwin, and THEN the reveal that it was Hannah
Totally agree RE: the show's relative restraint on violence. My jaw dropped there too. I really thought he'd killed him but I'm so glad it didn't happen because it would've made no sense narratively
Yeah I'm definitely liking it more now. I'd compare it to The Wire (not quality-wise just yet but pacing-wise) where it really takes its time which can be off-putting at first, but once you get a few episodes into it and get more familiar with the characters it gets better and better
lol I thought he killed him too, that's a big part of why I was so shocked
THIS SCENE MAN. The music is so perfect. Every little note and beat throughout it is hit so perfectly. Another one I loved from the finale was his meeting with the book shop owner for whatever reason
Shit's getting interesting. Was that a slight SMILE from Daniel at the end? Obviously I've become even more convinced that he did it now. I feel like anything else would almost feel inorganic at this point, as much as I WANT him to be innocent
++++RESPECT FOR TED JR AFTER THIS EP! I mean he's still a dick (though still painted really sympathetically, it's completely understandable from HIS perspective to not want Daniel anywhere near Tawny), but I love that he said he made it up. That senator's without a doubt my least favorite character on the show yet. UGH! Ted Sr's seemed like a pretty chill dude (especially with the whole oven situation at the birthday party) so I'd be surprised if he gave in to whatever they tell him, but we'll see
Thumbnail for next ep shows Daniel/Tawny together yay. Kinda nervous about what Ted Jr will do if/when he finds out this time though. Tawny being pregnant is gonna make him 10000x more protective
I think my favorite scene so far this season has still been the dream sequence with Kerwin in the first episode. That was really good
lol is Potts just being typecast as "former detective who coerced a confession that irreversibly damages an entire family's life"? So weird that he plays such a similar role on this and Bloodline
AND NOW I THINK THE KILLER MIGHT'VE BEEN GEORGE! idk idk. It's definitely either him or Daniel though
what a great last few minutes. I didn't want that montage to end. So many balls in the air in such a short time
I'm glad Doggett saw through the bullshit and is gonna start doing some real policework, but honestly I don't think it's for the best. It sucks that Daniel has to drag his name through the mud (again) but him moving away seems like the best for everyone, except the mother and maybe Amantha I guess. And he's proven that he can get along fine when he's with total strangers, like that book club
Crazy in retrospect that it took the entire season for Ted Jr to come forward with the assault, but I like that slow burn. This show's pretty much just had two huge events since Daniel got out of prison: the mob beating up Daniel and Daniel assaulting Ted Jr. Most of this season was just dealing with the consequences of those. I appreciate that more in a way than a show that needs to throw a big event out pretty much every episode to keep things 'interesting' (as much as I love shows like Lost and Breaking Bad they definitely did this)
Curious what direction S3 will take. I feel like it's headed towards Daniel being 'denied' the chance at leaving because of George being found and Trey's DNA being tested, which might link them to Hannah's death. Ted Jr's confession is a bit of a wild card though, that's definitely gonna throw more fuel on Daniel's fire
No matter what it feels like Daniel/Tawny SHOULD be at an end. That last meeting gave them both some good closure, and I don't really see where they could go from there. But it's pretty much inevitable that they see each other again if I'm right about Daniel staying in town (or at least not being banished)
looks like I don't have to wait long for S3! I'm kinda glad that it's back to 6 episodes tbh. I think the pacing worked better in S1
