Has anyone played Travian here?

I used to play it a while ago, when I was addicted to the internet.

I've not heard of that.

We play fairly big online board games right here on the forum from time to time. One of them is called mafia which involves different people having roles and working to figure out who is good and who is bad. It's a fun little game. There's one just finishing up now but another one ought to be starting fairly soon.

Which themed game did you play in? The only one I took part in was the one that chick mikeycp invited from his anime club and subsequently raged harder than a thousand suns on, begging us to ban her. I think her name was Valkyrie or something. It was a Final Fantasy Tactics themed mafia and everyone hated it but me. And I lost.

Travian is all about growing your village, invading others and avoiding invasion.
I found it fun.

Mafia sounds much more complicated.

Is Travian like civilisation?

That sounds like it could be cool if it can be transferred well on the board.

I actually played Travian a long time ago. You like settle a little village and then inside of the village you pick where you want to construct stuff like Barracks and the Town Hall, etc. Outside of the village you pick where you want to build up your resource gathering places - logging camps, mines, farms, etc.

It was an okay little time sink. Unless I've gotten it mixed up with another one of those "found and expand your nation" games. I never got past the building of my own little area to actually take part in any warfare.

Actually I just looked it up, and while I definitely did play this one, I don't think it's the one I was thinking about where you could also set up lumber mills and mines outside of your town. I might have been thinking of that game that now advertises with elf breasts - Evony.
