I have seriously mixed feelings about The Cabin in the Woods. I like how ridiculous and over the top it gets in its final moments, but in the end I don't think it works that well as a parody/satire. With another satiric film like Scream or Tucker & Dale, even if you (somehow) don't get the cliches they're referencing, you can still enjoy the story on some basic level. But Cabin in the Woods is satire first, with everything else coming in second. They practically shove it in your face. And if you like that, that's totally fine, but it was a bit too much for me.
I actually really enjoyed the Evil Dead remake because it gave the original source material a badass makeover. And the two-second after the credits scene was a nice treat. It's one of the best horror remakes I can think of in recent years. That's not exactly high praise, but what else even comes close to it? | Nintendo Network ID: EctoCooler47 |

The Evil Dead remake was aces.
I'll take Cabin over Tucker and Dale, but loved both. Neither of them were exactly subtle.
I kind of want to do a Scream marathon now, but I don't know if I own any of them anymore.

You need to get on that. Almost all the Scream movie are endlessly rewatchable for me, even if the endings make you go "...really?" Okay the third one isn't very good but I'd probably still watch it.
If the first one wasn't so drenched in 90s nostalgia I don't think I'd love it as much. I always smirk when the police ask Billy why he has a cellular phone. | Nintendo Network ID: EctoCooler47 |

I was so high on the soundtrack to 3 back in the day that it gets a good faith pass from me. I don't really remember anything about the second one. Scream Blu Ray Set - I need to grab this at some point, glad to see it's finally back in stock. There's a 15 dollar set but it doesn't have 4 in it. Probably cheaper to get it and buy 4 separately, but I'm a sucker for a box set.

Scream 2 is the only one to have a left-handed killer.
Lefties rule.
But yeah that set looks nice. I wouldn't mind owning it myself. I remember watching all the documentaries on youtube (I don't know if they're still up) so I can vouch for some pretty good bonus features. I'm positive David Arquette was high as a kite when they interviewed him. | Nintendo Network ID: EctoCooler47 |

If he doesn't have coke smeared on his nose and the WCW Heavyweight Championship around his waist I might feel a little ripped off. That's my only worry with purchasing the set.

Alright, since I rarely watch these I figure you are the people to ask...what would you recommend for beginners? (aka the 12 y/o is asking to watch scary movies :P ) | A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart. |

You should start him off with classics... The Shining is one of the best around. Psycho. Rosemary's Baby. None are particularly graphically either (atleast compared to modern stuff). Blair Witch project. Scream.
