Imagine choosing cause and being informed you are to be killed by a shark. You spend the rest of your life avoiding bodies of water, but the rules state the information can't prevent your death, so the universe has to hurl a shark through your living room window out of a clear blue sky one day

What if the rules say you can avoid death if you know the cause beforehand?

Neither, but I guess date would be much better than cause. At leat you have time to spend all your money and do the things you like to do.

But if they're trying to force you at gunpoint, you know that they aren't actually going to kill you because then the cause of death would be 'gun' instead of 'hotdog'.
