That sure was a lot of movie! It carries a steady amount of momentum through the Trinity Test (which delivers, at least aurally) but runs out of a lot of steam after that when it turns into an hour-long epilogue about Oppy's communist ties being interrogated. I feel like that could've tightened up so much more, or even excised entirely. The interesting part was about the bomb's development and its implications (which is definitely explored as well), Strauss' vendetta just seemed superfluous to all of that.
Was also really wishing the full retrospective quote about Trinity would've been used somewhere. We got the "I am become Death" part a couple times but the full thing with "some people laughed...some people cried" really hits harder and has lots of cinematic potential...oh well.
Not quite the return to form for Nolan I was hoping for based on the hype, but a step up from Dunkirk and Tenet.
Interstellar last?? Damn. I don't think I've ever had such a steep reevaluation of a movie like I did the second time I watched that, shot up from mid-range Nolan to #1 and it's prob my most rewatched movie of my adult life at this point. For me it's just a few clunky scenes away from a 5/5
Strange, on mobile earlier it was just a captcha box, I couldn't even tell that it was a youtube video. On my comp it works fine and now it's fine on mobile
