Randall will have one last glass of milk with Vandal
and then must remember to recommend to Khanarak this book that Randall read right before setting off for this journey
and then Randall will say goodbye to Cyrillus and Rara (Randall will see them again in a few months)
and then Randall will head back home to Randall's lady friend to prepare for Randall and Randall's lady friend's upcoming nuptials.

A lot of the points mentioned were things I was thinking about as we were going tbh. There are like, a handful of fairly different versions of this game that could exist
Helios Lottery was item heavy and your point total fluctuated into the trillions in the blink of an eye and thats just...way too much for something like this. I wanted gold to always increase steadily so any lucky team can pull ahead mostly whenever
My holiday games (Halloween, Xmas, Thanksgiving) are a much more competitive version of this for sure. Each round one person dies and is eliminated and you can VERY directly fuck people over. One phase is choosing randomized options for points like this, and then every other phase is a challenge of sorts that leads to an elimination
I tried to keep this as a very casual version of the two, mostly because it was dnd themed. I know it was a weird balance between working against other parties while also just kinda just coexisting with them, but I think that's what I wanted ultimately. DnD is def not a player vs player game and it just didnt feel right outside of a casual dagger or moonberry here and there. The goal was def not to kill each other, it just doesnt fit the spirit of the overall game to me. If people would rather a competitive version like that then maybe I can move closer to that for the next one. Or I can just host another holiday game so people get their fix that way tbh
Kinda the same thought process with luck vs skill. I promised a very casual game so I didn't wanna add any skill type challenge or live choices. Just make your choice each day and anything you add roleplaying wise on top of that is an added bonus. So again, if people would prefer a version like that then I'm sure it can happen, it's just tough because that's a far different game from the random choose your own adventure and see where your path takes you sorta thing. Hopefully people weren't too bothered by the random.orgness of it all, but that's the game! Luck was either on your side or it wasn't, personally I far prefer the roleplaying and character aspect
24 hours vs 48 hours is hard too. I could feel people wanting it to wrap up about partway through and that's fine. I just wanted to do twenty levels since that's how many levels a dnd character can reach. Ten feels so shooooort, and I certainly wouldn't wanna do 48 hour phases with twenty levels. FORTY DAYS! Nawnaw. I know some felt it moved too fast at this pace, tough thing to balance though. 48 hours might give some more time to show up and drop character stuff which would be great, but it might also drag like crazy for most. And I certainly cant come up with less demanding tasks than choosing A B or C every day so I'm not sure the best way to solve this. Tricky
Item issue is well documented and doesn't need to be dug into much. I solved the possible dagger issue just before we started because I didn't want everyone to stab the shit out of each other obviously so I put a cap on that. Magehand stealing inspiration is one fix, but imo MageHand being limited just like the daggers might be just as good. Each party can only use Magehand once per phase, ez pz. Many people asked me if the MageHand inspiration wipe was technically possible so I was waiting for someone to pull the trigger the entire game even tho I didn't really want them to. Didn't expect it to take the wind out of everyone's sales that much though tbh, inspiration and items in general are basically such an afterthought to me in this game so I guess I didn't think losing your inspiration would be soul crushing. But now I know! Will be corrected next time
Glad people seemed to have fun overall though. That first phase with everyone making their HeroForge characters and the second phase with everyone introducing themselves and roleplaying were two of my favorite FE threads in quite awhile. I loved those

As a beginner, this was perfect. I'm not cut out for the more detailed stuff, at least not yet. I did find myself wanting to be able to do more late, but i think that's better for a round 2 of this.
I enjoyed making my character, interacting with my group, and sometimes interacting with others. I think if you add to in in round 2 that's fine, and maybe less people sign up, but for me, this was a good introductory round. | Rodney is a great guy. Oops, nevermind he's a terrible human being.

And my god was the ending INTENSE for me! Each time one of you made a choice I ran to my chart to see what the damage was. With enough luck even the down on their luck KEEPERS could've won! I think anyway, I didn't check much cause I didn't wanna get ahead of myself
Couldnt believe that both Brian and Jamie who were on two front runner teams didnt end up choosing, I was waiting til the final minute to see how their choices could change things so it was super tense. When Herm showed up and snagged that 15 he sealed the win, so him rolling highest and getting the kill was just the cherry on top. The three leading parties all ended up with the exact same gain of just five gold by the end. Get Ready to Rok cleaned up by all three choosing their 15 gold options. My favorite bit was when I saw priggats violent option was the 15 gold and was like aw no way will he pick that one so theyre definitely out of it, but then priggat had character development and went against type and almost saved the day for them. Fun stuff

Mostly thrilled with the idea of people maybe getting into dnd or dnd related things here going forward. I'm ready to keep taking advantage of the new rpg forum with whatever anyone comes up with, no matter how simple

I'm sure there are tweaks that could be done, there always are, but it was just as fun (more, honestly, for me anyway) as the old lotteries. The only major immediate change should be making Inspiration untouchable by mage hands. I knew early on that was going to be a problem but it didn't lead to a crazy blowout in the end or anything so it didn't really matter.

I recreated Marnu on my Heroforge account.
I think I'm ordering a Vandal and a Marnu, at least.

gg had fun
I do kinda feel like it would've been better served being MORE RP-like or MORE competitive. Like you said it was sort of an odd mix of both which had its pros and cons
I have fond memories of the ridiculous Helios lotteries but the Mage Hand incident was a (very) small reminder of why I probably wouldn't want to bother (:
I'd definitely love to do a fully dedicated text-based RP though

Well....we won....
I don't know what I expected. Honestly, not much thought goes into this. You grab your weapon and hope for the best. Father always made it seem different...but when the blood starts pumping...
I look over at my companions. Rok. So simple, yet effective. Staby Staby!! Yes my friend, keep stabbing.
And Ordella. They seem to be coming down from some dark rage....maybe i will wait a minute before congratulating.
Looking around...seems like everyone made it through somehow. Even Faerora. Well...it can't be a perfect ending.
I walk around and survey the damage. Ahron is there. A quick embrace, and a promise of meeting up again sometime. He also mentions something about Sears, but i don't know what that is.
Murder Bunny looks...murderous. I'll just avoid him. Great to have on your side, but does he know he's on your side?
Ah, there's Randall. He seems very excited at this victory. You help him to his feet, and he starts going on about books....you make a promise to sit down later and discuss at length. It's not just to get away from him - it's something you would like to do some day. You sense much goodness in him, and would like to share in his passion.
I take a minute to glance over the battlefield. It's amazing what everyone has done here. Out of the corner of your eye.....was that Akmong sus? With a slight smile? Couldn't be. You rub your eyes...and he's gone.
What to do now? Should I return home? There is a kingdom waiting on me. It would be easy for awhile.
No. I cannot. This got my blood pumping. I feel a real kinship with the creatures here. I can't just return. If there is a second adventure...I will be there.
But first...I need a drink.
The bar has survived. Doesn't it always? Time to sit. After a drink, I look to the side, and there is Tuul stumbling in. He left me.....but isn't that behind us now? He did express remorse.
Instead of fighting...I wave him over to the bar.
"First round is on me....friend."
A fitting end to my first real adventure. | Rodney is a great guy. Oops, nevermind he's a terrible human being.

Oh also dice rolling being conjured up halfway through was a gamechanger. I think there would be a lot more dice rolling in the second one. I would proooobably lean harder into dnd type gameplay instead of just dnd flavor I think? Definitely wouldn't go wild with it though, like I wouldn't do stats or player progression I don't think. But letting the dice decide your fate just like in dnd is fun

E̶̻̘͒͋Ṗ̸̦̬͠Ĩ̵̯͚̈́L̶̢̀O̶͙͛G̶͎̳̉Ù̷̳̚E̸̩̋
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Akmong's blood continued to fall from Murder Bunny's reddened mace as he watched Akmong whimper out his last breaths. Every drop of blood clapped like thunder in his floppy ears.
He had finally won...so why did he feel so empty?
Murder Bunny went through the motions in the whirlwind of events that followed. Receiving the King's ransom, the hero's welcome in the town square, and of course, drinks at The Mellow Canary. He was quiet, but not in the sinister way he usually was, but more just...sad.
The Yin Yang Yang had brief quiet moment to themselves in between all the congratulations from townies and adventurers alike. Sandro and Calius seemed to notice the shift in their "friend's" demeanor.
"What's wrong my hare friend? Now is the time for celebration!" Calius smiled.
Murder Bunny just stared down at his tankard, lost in thought.
"Oh! I got this for you. Picked fresh this morning!" Calius continued as he rolled a black apple across the table towards him.
Murder Bunny briefly looked up from his drink, as he picked up the apple and stared down at it blankly.
"Th...thanks. Truth be told...this murdering business--and this is crazy to say out loud--it really might finally be taking a toll on me. I just...I just don't know anymore." he said forlornly, seemingly talking directly to the apple.
Sandro raised one of his arms up and gently grabbed Murder Bunny's other paw, which briefly startled him.
"We are all weary in our own ways, my friend. And if you ever need to talk to someone, I know a few...individuals...who might be able to help you out." he winked as he began to rifle around for a pamphlet with one of his other arms.
SIX WEEKS LATER
Drip. Drip. Drip.
A small hare was awoken by the sound of fresh rainwater dripping from above his hovel. He smiled and outstretched his paw, catching the next few drops and taking a drink. It had been a long, wet night but the sun was finally starting to peek through the grey clouds.
He emerged from his hole and stretched his limbs, giving out a satisfied squeak as he did so.
Six weeks...had it really been that long? The quest for Lockhart's gold already seemed like almost a lifetime ago. What seemed so crucial at the time hardly seemed to matter anymore. Even the gold was of little value to him anymore, he mused to himself as he dug up a fresh carrot. What good is gold when you can simply live off the land?
But yet, it simply would be a boldfaced lie to say none of it mattered. Nay, what he learned was invaluable. The treachery, the murder, the infighting...that's not what mattered. What he carried home with him was much deeper than that. Simply put, he had learned the power of friendship. Perhaps someday he'd reunite with some of his fellow adventurers...but in the meantime, that mattered little, as he carried a piece of them with him wherever he went. And not even in the literal sense, like the Murder Bunny of old might have.
"Well, I'm back." Fluffy smiled peacefully as he chomped down on the carrot and hopped his way through the meadow, ready for his next (non-murdery) adventure.
🥕 THE END 🥕
