Remember the lottery games that Helios did? It’d be fun to reskin that as a group dnd adventure (basically choose your own adventure). That’s what I did for my holiday game series but I wouldn’t wanna get that involved with it right now

So. Just question. If I WERE to run some sort of battle royale thing. How ..... or what are some suggestions to go about it? More so wondering how you’d do rolls for attacks n skill checks etc?

I feel like there are a ton of ways, it’s definitely a tricky balance
You could use the discord bot to do dice rolls if people have different stats maybe. You could have people hold items with different attack/defense tags attached to them and then compare those numbers against each other. One time I considered doing this with a simple friend or foe element where when you run into someone you both privately play the old friend or foe game against each other to see who’s attacked if anyone

I'm sure someone like Brian or Boc with a good amount of board game knowledge can think of a game that has a good attack and defense system. Something like that could be good to lift from if you go with a dice rolling route

If you want to keep the base combat relatively simple then just assigning # of dice based on a weapon/armor's efficacy could be a good starting point, and probably have it be like 3 or 4-sided dice to limit variance? Then you'd just roll however many # of die you're attacking/defending with and highest sum wins etc. And then add as much complexity with perks/supplementary items/friend&foe on top of that as you want

Or maybe highest single roll in the group of dice wins
So if I roll 4 dice and get 1 3 4 4
And someone rolls 3 dice and gets 2 2 6
Their 6 beats my 4 even though the odds were with me. And if it ties they cancel out and it goes backwards down the line
That way someone rolling on lowly die can still crit with a 6 vs someone rolling with a powerful 4 dice weapon. Or it makes it more likely than sum anyway

ya that works too
though I think limiting the variance with like a 3-sided die solves that similarly. idk exactly what the odds comparison is but I think it'd be pretty close. For example you'd have somewhere around a 33% chance to beat someone with one more die than you if you're using 3-sided
That's basically the way DEADWOOD does it!!

I think I was mainly curious about a format that we wouldn’t need to do on discord. But I feel like if we’d do any kind of rolls it would have to be there. Eh?

Do itttt. Dice rolling here would change the game
Cody I just figured you could us some channel we make for you on discord to roll dice yourself when someone makes an attack, but the game still takes place here

So now that there’s a roll mechanic .... I might be low key planning a battle royale thing. Would ppl be interested ??
