"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
I will be playing Tomb Raider once it unlocks tonight.
Guess it's unlocked by now...it's also available for PC I saw just now....I think I'll give it a try

It unlocked on the 360 and all that (I guess? I know the release date got broken early in some places), but I've got it on PC through steam and Steam won't unlock it until exactly midnight EST.
EDIT: And my client crashed! I think Tomb Raider killed it.
EDIT the Second: Okay, now it's unlocked! I'm gonna load it up now. Farewell!

Good for you, damn steam though. I have the Alan Wake Series and Hitman 5 and they're bound to steam aswell...it's rare but sometimes steam is fuck'd up or down and then you can't access the game you bought, even though you got a physical copy of it lying on your desk in front of you...meh whatever. maybe I'll leech TR...maybe not...Square Enix latest Hitman title was certainly flawed, so much I didn't play more than 10 hours I think...stuck in chapter I don't know....4 or so. TR looks different though. WIth quick time events and shit. I like that

lol I don't mind too much. Steam works well for me and I'd rather wait here at my laptop for a game to unlock than have to go to a store and stand in line for a midnight release or something.
Okay that's a plus for steam I guess. Btw I just saw a nice comment on the game on youtube
"There is no action in this game, remove the shooting and you have nothing! This is no longer tomb raider, it's like black cops feat. Lara Croft, plus the accents, the stereotyped black woman, everything is horrible in this game... Tomb raider died a long time ago."
So maybe it's a good thing I've never played TR games before. Who knows. Sounds like Square Enix again reformed a perfectly good Franchise though and turned it into some mediocre new wave kind of games that barely resemble their predecessors

Hmmmkaaay. I'm pretty sure he's too harsh with that criticism but there's certainly some truth to it. We'll see...in a couple of days maybe

I'm mostly gonna ignore that Youtube person's comments about the plot and characters. This story's written by Rhianna Pratchett. Maybe this dude was just high while playing and missed a lot of stuff.
I also wouldn't say that there's no action if you take the shooting out. Shooting and combat are important, but for me, the "gotta get the fuck away from these guys" survival aspects of it work well for action. Shooting shit all the time isn't the point. Surviving and getting your ass out of there is.
The game's good at building tension and making it seem like you're probably gonna die if you wait a second too long to act (and you probably will die if you do that). There're also a lot of quicktime events (and they're kind of annoying to deal with on a keyboard when you're sleepy), but they're appropriate and flow well with whatever's going on when they happen.
It's definitely different from other Tomb Raider games, but it's supposed to be and I like how it's different.
