Sorry just trying to understand what your definition of a finger is since you are so sure a thumb is one

Is your thumb not a terminating digit on your lower arm?

Actually, by definition, yes, that is the defining characteristic. That does not make it the *only* characteristic. For example, people typically don't walk on their tippy fingers. But those are side characteristics, not defining ones.

So then, by that definition, that a finger is a terminating digit on your lower arm, and a toe is a terminating digit on your lower leg, if someone was to have a toe transplanted to their arm it would then be a finger.

If there was a reason to do that, yes, it would technically become a finger.

It would be a stubby little finger and look like you had midget hands, but yes.

If your middle finger was the one that was opposable, it wouldn't make it any less of a finger.

So the definition of a thumb is a digit that has the ability to touch each fingertip of the same hand. Since this is unique to a thumb because fingers are not capable of this, a thumb is not a finger.
