I was rooting for Jesse and Mike throughout the episode, and was hoping Walt would stay chained up.
Jesse was lol at during the dinner scene.

I cannot recall Walt's obsession with grey matter ever being established in past seasons.
Obviously I remember the story from season 1, but was this episode the first evidence that GM is still in his thoughts on a regular basis?

I think they got into it a little bit more when Walt and Gretchen met in the restaurant. I actually always assumed that was one of his primary motivations though.
I actually saw someone point out that the "$5000 buyout" was implied in S2(?) when Walt was telling his classroom about the guy that sold the process for making diamonds to GE for a $10 bond. Pretty impressive!

Just saw it, the dinner scene was the best. I was loling hard throughout the whole thing. Kinda cool that they brought back the whole Grey Matter scenario, but man I think I'm at the point I want to see Walter crash and burn. I guess he forgets the business is what destroyed his family to begin with so I find it lol that now that's the only thing he cares for.

KUBY. Played by very funny stand up comedian Bill Burr. It's funny that they cast him in that role. His stand up is hilarious

"you know who likes this suit? judge pepper doomia. she thinks i'm a snappy dresser. you know what judge pepper doomiah hates? police harassments....of a senior citizen"
*looks over to client, client looks back like "o rly?!"*
"Sorry..."
well played. saul rules.
this episode was another rollercoaster. up and down, you laugh you cry, you fall you get up. there's a storm coming, or to put it more precisely, the storm hit the coast. and first waves of destruction are hitting town. things start to fall part, people need to take action.
impressive speeches, or just bits of dialogue aswell. grey matter, jesse recalling the start of his business venture with mr. white. all that mike talk. oh man.
people start to lose it. skyler letting herself go, walt relentlessly running after the dream he sold years ago, the empire business. damn his hand...looked painful when he burned it...really. he didn't look like he was in much of pain though. he's got a dream to catch, no time for feelings
loved it. want more. fuck AMC for splitting this final season into halves...

That was probably the most uncomfortable episode of television I've ever watched. Jesus H |
|
Anyways great great episode, Walt's creepiness made me uncomfortable this whole episode. |
|
Walt imbues this sense of aggression and danger now. At any moment I expected him to lose control and attack Skyler |
|
His whole demeanour with Skylar is very disturbing. |
|
Oh and loool'd at the scene with Walt/Walt Jr getting their new cars. That was great
|
|
Great stuff with Walt Jr. and the cars that added sum comedy to the episode. |
|
I thought Hank was gonna turn down that promotion at first. I think he still might tbh. The way the guy said that Hank was gonna be overseeing everything and wouldn't be in the field for the HEISENBERG case anymore doesn't seem like something Hank would be okay with, and he pretty much said he was only saying "yes" because of Marie. I think Hank will turn it down because of his obsession with WHITE WHALE HEISENBERG and it'll end up costing him his life |
|
Hank's promotion is going to be an interesting scenario as I think this means he'll be less involved in the Fring case and more involved with the whole picture. Wondering what that means in terms of his story or if he'll realize its not the job he wants. |

SERIOUSLY MY HEART DURING THOSE LAST 5 MINUTES. |
|
Holy shit what an episode. Whole last 15 minutes had my heart beating so fast. |
|
That ending just made me go cold. |
|
The train heist stuff was great stuff. That ending though, just COLD. I was not expecting that. |
|
skyler: *blows cigarette smoke* "out burying bodies?!" *smokes cigarette*
walt: *looks down his legs* "robbing a train!" *WALTzes off like a boss*
haha....i loved that bit.
I loved the whole interaction with Skylar when he simply told her he was robbing a train and walked off. |
|
Walt not caring about how he looked in front of Hank by breaking down in front of him, just to use that to further his operation. So great. I loved that moment. |
|
Great stuff with Hank also before bugging his office. This episode was just pure great and I loved every minute of it. |

I was lol'ing so hard throughout that dinner scene. Best scene of the episode by far. |

I'm in the camp of now rooting for Walt to die tbh. |

Jesse seeing the news report and then listening as Walt happily whistles/clearly not care too much about the kid's death was fantastic
Cold opening was one of my favorite. I knew there'd be a shot of Walt pulling up that second barrel while Todd was digging up the kid. When it came I just loved it

Yeah I loved it too. Dissolving a kid in acid is probably the darkest the show has gone. That shot of Todd uncovering the kid's hand was so CHILLING

Jesse's "I'm out too" came somewhat unexpected i must say. the whole break up really. walt's "automatized" response to mike's "i'm out" was weird. mike basically told him "that's that yo, done". mike was setting the tone. put walt infront of a settled decision. then walt wants to take back power of the situation. playing the boss, giving the classic 'feeling sorry for having to let you go since there is no other way'- card. walt is trying to coordinate things immediately, trying to handle things the way he sees fit. tells mike to 'please instruct the guy who's stepping in with the clients list so he can fill your spot'. after grey matter and all that, being overstepped is no longer an option i guess. he knows what he is capable of. he thinks he should be in control this time around, at least up to the moment he dies. and he goes through a lot of means to make that a priority.
when jesse saw walt whistling like nothing happened in the lab, i asked myself what jesse's reaction to that gonna be. i guess his decision to step out aswell was encouraged by walt playing laidback and cool after a kid had mistakingly been shot.

I gotta say, I felt bad for Walt when he said this business is all he has left. It's so tragic. Everything he's been working towards is gone now that his family left. The only reason he was doing all of it in the first place. The fact that I still feel sorry for Walt really proves how great this show is

Holy shit Walt whistling immediately after he tells Jesse that he's losing sleep over the kid.
Really good episode, I loved how it cut through every image of Walt that he's presented throughout the show. He may not be aware of his VILLAINY, but he totally knows that he's not doing this for his family. Gray Matter (and what went on with Gretchen and Elliot) has always been the key.
His further manipulation of Jesse was just :( . I can't believe that he's forcing Jesse back into the game despite the CLEAR OUT.
Speaking of Jesse, the dinner was simultaneously cringeworthy and hilarious. Jesse just rambling on while Walt and Skyler stared each other down. I also like that she pretty much implied that his childhood memories of his mom's green beans were bullshit. I also loved Jesse punching Todd. Motherfucker so deserved it
And there is no way this new idea of Walt's doesn't somehow result in him alone at the Denny's.
