Spiderman Homecoming was prettyyyy good!
|
It beats the typical Marvel movie for me. It was actually FUNNY, I was surprised. The recent Marvel humor has been atrocious and dumbed down and really kills some of these movies, I dunno who writes it but its always so cringeworthy. But this made me lol several times. Part of it might be because they got actual comedians in these random roles, like Martin Starr, Hannibal Buress, Donald Glover, etc. All three made me laugh
Tom Holland was really good. RDJ was funny as usual. Michael Keaton was a really solid villain, the right blend of sympathy thrown in. He reminded me a bit of Doc Oc. I didn't see the twist coming at all, him being her father

ya it was solid, second best Spiderman movie after Spiderman 2 I'd say. Glover was kinda wasted, but he was still great with the little he had
|
The twist definitely caught me offguard. And the little MJ twist at the end was cool too |

saw The Big Sick today, vry good. It plays with a lot of romcom genre staples but never gets too sappy/melodramatic, wasn't surprised to see Apatow produced it. One of the funniest movies I've seen in a while

Oh! Is that the one with the dude from Silicon Valley? I saw the trailer for that and it actually looked like it had the potential to be pretty good. | "All this from a slice of gabagool?" |

Just saw Dunkirk on IMAX 70mm film (highly recommend seeing it in this format if it's available near you as 70mm is how Nolan intended it to be watched).
Holy...mother...of...God.
I'll put my thoughts in a spoiler tag for those of you who plan to see it as it's nice to go in without expectations to make up your own mind about everything.

First of all, the score was AMAZING. Hans Zimmer is a genius. There's a clock ticking sound throughout that really contributes to the intensity and suspense of the movie.
Cinematography was some of the most beautiful I've ever seen.
I really liked how this didn't follow a typical war movie formula. It was really refreshing and I can see why people are saying it might be the best war movie of all time. It didn't really follow one person--you don't really learn anything about back stories, but it's still very emotional in spite of this. You're just supposed to root for humanity and survival.
It was honestly perfect. Nolan didn't over-do it at all. The last time I saw something come together in such a full and satisfying way was when I finished watching The Wire. I absolutely see why people are calling this movie Christopher Nolan's masterpiece and I don't think it was overhyped at all. Very nice to see a movie that cares more about visuals and feelings rather than melodrama and a heavy plot.
Don't think anything will top this this year for me as the best film of the year. |

Saw the new Spiderman yesterday, it was pretty good.
It got me wondering if there were any white kids that went to that school other than Peter Parker. It was literally like they crammed as many minorities into the movie as possible.
By the end I was kind of surprised that Aunt May wasnt like Pakistani or some shit

I loved the very end of Spider-man Homecoming, right before credits roll. That was the last new movie I watched.
But I did watch Logan last night for the second time. And I may have enjoyed it more knowing what was coming.

I've now seen Atomic Blonde twice. Fun film, especially since I rarely see something in the theaters more than once.
