hard to buy from anyone/company and not support something you may not agree with, if you dig long enough.

That's why I enjoy my ignorance, and anytime some asks if I've heard about someone's music I like, or a company I like to purchase from .... I say NOPE, and I don't want to.

Yeah same here. Now if they're a babysitter and a pedophile or something like that, I want to know.

I might bash people for fun on here about movies or food, but attacking or trying to change someone's core beliefs is not my thing. It leads to hate and bigotry when that is often what bothered you about their beliefs in the first place.

Beliefs don't bother me at all. It is when that belief is used as a tool to hurt someone else that I have a problem with it. Flat earthers, religious zealots including evolutionists and big bang believers have all been guilty of it at times.

And here is where I actually think Creationism and Flat Earthers *are* hurting people, especially if they are passing on such bullshit to their children. There is a reason we are falling behind on things like science literacy. It's why we have an educational system in the first place- so that stupid ideas can die away like they are meant to. Paying money to people who continue to perpetuate such ideas hurts all of us. It's the anti-intellectual slant that has lead us to have a president who gets his steak well done *and* puts ketchup on it for gods sake!

I wonder if steak preference is genetic like cilantro or bitter tastes?

No it’s status just like everything else.

Black people aren’t ghetto. Poor black people are.
Same applies to any poor person.

Read a study a while back that showed an inner city black kid paired with a rich black kid and they had nothing in common. Didn’t really like each other.

Same goes for steak taste imo. The poorer people in my person experiences (being poor and evolving to middle class) and my many years waiting tables, LOVE well done. Extra well done even. Then they drown it in A1 sauce. That used to be me too. Now I can’t stand A1 and like that shit rare. Hamburgers are medium rare.
Oh yeah!!!

If you can help it. Avoid chains. Go to restaurants owned by small business owners.
Oh yeah!!!

My problem with most fast "casual" burger places is they tend to only do well done for their own protection. Fuddruckers let's you get medium rare, but their buns don't hold up very well once any sauces hit them.

Sometimes you'll luck into a medium burger at some of the "nicer" places.

I recall Smashburger being one of those where you'd consistently get a decent burger that wasn't griddled all to hell.

^^^

Smashburger's so good. I miss it

And Five Guys is overrated af. And I only say overrated cuz they insist on decorating their entire restaurant with GLOWING reviews from seemingly every magazine/newspaper. I don't get it, their burgers are average at best and their fries are worse (even if you get cajun and/or add malt vinegar). I'd take something cheaper like Wendy's over it ANY DAY

Creationism doesn't bother me at all. I respect the rights of everyone to have an opinion on abortion. The anti gay stuff is an issue for me as it crosses into bigotry and infringement. Pacs are worse for me. They fuck the entire country over for personal gain and are why we are where we are. Good luck buying anything that won't make you a part of the problem, though.

Creationism is a problem. I wouldn't buy anything from a Flat Earther either. Yes, they have the right to be stupid and ignorant, but I don't have to help them out when I can give my money to someone else.

it would seem to me that a more progressive church could integrate evolution and creationism. in fact i thought they kind of did. i mean why cant god have also created evolution? its the specific anti science stuff they stick with that is a problem. in fact if you accept that all those religious texts were written by people a long time ago and have usually been translated 2-3 times then it becomes fairly easy to say its a metaphor or something. at that point you can just say god created all the science stuff and its not like anyone can prove your wrong.

Oh try Tasty Burger 317, it’s good and open super late which was perfect when I was in college. I have no idea where you actually live in MA but they’re all over Boston and Cambridge

i will look into it. actually i kind of think i may have been there once but im not sure.

turns out i have no ate there yet, but there was a reason i remembered the name. they just opened a location right outside the Garden. i will have to eat later one day and grab a bit after a game. maybe if i go to brunch Sunday but don't eat to much, or don't eat at the game i could maybe grab a burger after. before the game would take getting there even earlier then i usually do.

Bigotry is thinking anti-intellectualism is bad and harmful to society and therefore choosing not to spend dollars to support it? Let's look at it from something closer to home for you: Say there is a guy who thinks his opinions on steel beams are equal to your knowledge of steel beams, even though his opinions would lead to too weak of structures. No harm there- it's just some dude on the street who doesn't know his shit. But let's say that guy is put in charge of your business and thus can dictate that the structures you are making use the thinner steel beams he dictates. What's going to happen? Building is gonna collapse at some point, potentially after this idiot is gone and not able to foot the blame- and that is little consolation either way for the folks who get hurt or killed in the collapse.

That's what is happening in our country as a whole; some idiot on the street screaming that gay conversion therapy cures "gayness" is little harm. A Vice President who believes this is extremely dangerous. It's no wonder that the same people who believe the Earth is only 6000 years old also believe there is a Deep State conspiracy. That is *dangerous*.

So the fact that I don't want to spend my dollars to encourage these beliefs is not bigotry in the slightest, anymore than I'd expect Thin Blue Line folks to suddenly contribute money to Black Lives Matter. I can allow a group to exist but I don't need to prop it up with my dollars- tolerance doesn't mean you have to support it.

While the education system needs help and reform, I believe everyone should have an opportunity to get educated, because I want my proctologist to be well-educated in what he does so my ass don't hurt after.

That's how most modern scientists who are also religious reconcile their beliefs. But that's not Creation Science, which believes in a literal "scientific" interpretation of the Bible. Thus, the Earth is only 6,000 years old, dinosaur bones were put in the Earth by God to lead us astray from his belief, and Noah really did fit two of each animal onto the Ark (yet we still got a lot of genetic diversity within species after).

It's like arguing with anti-vaxxers (thanks to whom we have Lyme disease as one of the fastest growing vector-borne diseases in the US right now. There is a vaccine for dogs but the human one was run off the market due to anti-vaxxer fears.

You have identified a group of people, labelled them as inferior, and come up with a plan to oppress them. That's bigotry in every single way.
