I like that today we are already getting into the win-or-die(-or-you-could-just-draw-but-do-you-really-want-to-play-for-a-draw?-really?) games. |

Worst showing by defending champs ever y/n? I'm honestly looking because I don't know the stats. |
Na Italy had that honour last time in an even easier group. | Yeah, at least this was a quality group. Italy was just embarrassing in 2010.
|
Paraguay, Slovakia, and New Zealand. 2 draws and one loss. Just outright embarrassing.

Also, so happy for Chile, a lot of my old school friends were from their and are just partying it up.
Fun Fact: Top 3 scorers are from Bayern Munich. Arjen Robben -NED(3), Thomas Müller -GER(3), and Mario Mandžukić -CRO(2)

Honestly, they had a nice scoring chance on that last Corner...Joe Hart had a better header angle but someone jumped in front of him.

Italy winning out, and England beating Costa Rica by a few could make for an interesting tiebreak situation

Yeah I love close tiebreakers, that said a tie between Costa Rica and Italy mean England's out, or a Costa Rica win. No chance they get through, they're done. I think Italy might falter against Costa Rica, calling either a loss or tie or just squeak out a win.

The World Cup and Soccer in general are a beautiful thing. But it always saddens me at how truly apathetic fanbases can be in North America towards sports in general. Sports in other countries are a culture, a religion, a life. We mostly see it in Soccer because it's the most popular sport in most other countries.

at least they have a soccer team, joffrey! | "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
