Having lived within an hour of the border for almost 10 years, I agree, there are many issues related to opening/closing the border. Almost none of these are solved by building a big-ass wall. Smuggling will still continue. People will still continue to cross (both ways). Plus, you will destroy/severely disturb any sort of migratory animal that lives in that part of the country.

Short answer: Trump hates Mexicans, but he also hates Deer, Jaguars, Bears, and many other awesome animals.

With a work visa you don't have to leave and can get a green card from it, it's one of the "right" ways to immigrate to here.

Visitors can stay for like 3 months, but you just don't leave.

I know the process for a green card is a pain in the butt. Harder than getting citizenship. Also if you are on a work visa you can't switch jobs or anything. I know when we moved I couldn't work actual jobs because we were only on my dads visa. Was my excuse for being a lazy teenager

Yeah if I remember correctly you have to be on a work visa for like 3 years until you can get a green card, and the company basically owns you in that time.

My friend married some chick from China, thats all she needed to get a green card.

Trump has indeed had a busy first few days in office.

It's crazy that after all the preparation the TPP has been seemingly killed just like that. 6 months ago I probably would have celebrated this, but I'm not really sure what my position on both TPP and TTIP is anymore.

My American friends, please tell me, do any of these executive orders actually matter? Do they have to be carried out now or are they just as likely to happen as they were before? I'm not really sure how this works.
