If you change the sentencing for a false accusation you have to respond in like with every single crime under the sun. What about cases where a victim mis-identifies a suspect, or for that matter other crimes where people are falsely accused?
Maybe we should just give mandatory 20 year sentences for everything, upturn the entire justice system and then everybody can shut the fuck up and get back to posting pictures of robots.

The problem with that is that people accidentally misidentify suspects all the time. If you accuse someone of rape and you never even had sex with anyone then you probably should go to prison for at least 20 years.

How can you prove that the suspect was misidentified or that was just someone covering for themselves though?
Has this whole argument just been about giving false claimers of rape specifically more jail time? Seems a little arbitrary... like Paul said there are false claimers of a lot of crimes (though as I've said it's around the same percentage of false rape claims more or less.) should those be increased sentence wise as well? Someone says you killed a guy or stole something you didn't.... and it's not true should the sentence be equal to the crime itself? Maybe, but to just say that False Accusations of specifically rape as a single thing in the vast world of crime is a specific problem seems to be gunning more for the sympathies of actual rape victims. To trivialize what they are going through because something just as bad is happening to non-rape guys.
