I really enjoyed season 5 actually but I get people's criticism. Season spoilers below

I definitely feel as though the riot dragged on for way too long. Ideally they could have had half of the season been about the riot and the other half be about the consequences after its all said and done. Although I do understand if they wanted it to keep the passage of time consistent as it would be kind of jarring to go from multiple episodes representing a couple days to something which in the real world would likely take weeks to actually take effect. They also completely dropped the whole piscatella-murdering-someone storyline. Like wtf? None of them seriously ever brought up Wes Driscoll or the murder while they had him all hogtied up in the pool??? Just left Red and the unibrow girl's entire subplot this season feel like it was for nothing. Piscatella's storyline was NOT complete, so unless he becomes a fucking zombie or something... Also, dumbest criticism ever, but I find it really hard to believe that Flaritza's vlogs wouldn't go viral as fuck. They were only raking in like 6000 views max. Two cute prison girls making beauty vlogs from the middle of a fucking riot zone? That would get so much news coverage!!!! 4 > 2 > 5 > 1 >>>>> 3

Hi. New season is out. If anyone still watches this!

I disliked last season and stopped watching midway through. I powered through it before starting the new one from the beginning and while it definitely was the worst season they've done, it did turn around at the end. The storyline was still completely ridiculous and nonsensical, which was very disappointing following the great emotional cliffhanger from S4.

Some thoughts on the new season:

- I actually don't mind the new max security prison. I didn't like the "gang" war between Carol and Barb at all nor did I give a fuck about either of their characters but with both of them being killed off, it sets the stage for two people from the cast to take the roles, which will probably be Red and Daya. I just... really hope Badison either goes away or changes her character. She was fucking unbearable. - Half the cast disappearing is very... alarming! Especially since most of the major characters ended up with Piper and the bulk of the silly side characters ended up in Chicago. I really really hope that some time is devoted to Chicago next season which could be risky considering there's no real heavy hitters there, but this show is very good at building characters. - I thought the Tucky/Dixon/Charlie side arc was adorable. - Thought the kickball arc was very... odd. But I did enjoy the finale a lot. Taystee's situation (which.. I'm not entirely convinced will have Caputo's fantasy Hollywood ending tbqh) and Lorna's potential miscarriage were both sad notes to end on. Piper getting released! I unfortunately got spoiled on this so I was expecting it. But it opens the waves for new characters to take the front which I'm all for and she'll almost certainly still be on the show like Aleida is.

Overall... much better this season! Still not as good as the early ones but it's a vast improvement and it leaves me wanting more. I may rewatch this from S1 sometime soon, I haven't rewatched this show once and I forgot a lot of the arcs without having really seen this show in two years.

I actually started watching Season 4 the other day, hadn't seen it yet as I just didn't feel the need after season 3. No overly impressed with S4 yet either.
