I saw Passengers yesterday afternoon. The critics were not kind to this film, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

Watched Pixels the other night. Yeah, it was as bad as I imagined it would be.

Last good movie for me was Arrival.

Great sci-fi movie, makes you think.

La La Land - I normally don't go for musicals at all, but I pretty much just saw this because Damien Chazelle directed it as well as Gosling/Stone being attached. I enjoyed it, though mostly for the non-musical parts (: The opening and especially closing numbers were pretty great though

Fences - This is definitely up there as far as my favorite movies of the year (along with Nice Guys, Green Room, and maaaaybe Arrival and Moonlight). They didn't even try to hide that this was based on a play (as in, it was pretty much 2 straight hours of dialogue with very few locations), but that wasn't a detriment whatsoever since the performances were so good. Denzel was great but Viola Davis stole the show. All the acting was pretty much spot-on honestly

Manchester by the Sea - eh! I didn't dislike it (unlike some of the members of my theater's audience) but it didn't do a whole lot for me. The performances were good but the movie seemed a bit aimless. There was some very slight character development at the end but that was about it

Hell or High Water. I feel like I've liked Ben Foster in every single role that he's played that I've seen.

Last movie in theatres I saw was rogue one... Which was great. Well done movie with a great atmosphere which perfectly ties to the original. Slow start but fantastic finish.

Last think I watched was Kubo and the Two Strings.
This movie is amazing looking and the world it creates is just so courful and enjoyable. Im really sad this movie didn't do well at the box office while movies like secret life of pets did. That's just criminal.

We went and saw Fantastic Beasts. Nice start up for the new trilogy.

We watched Child 44 at home and this film is good, if depressing. But Stalin-oriented films tend to be. ;)

I Am Not A Serial Killer on Netflix. Was kind of interesting. I saw it getting a lot of praise on the horror subreddit. It really wasn't much of a horror movie outside of the serial killer subject matter but it's always nice to see Christopher Lloyd in a role. And... Lydia from Breaking Bad, I guess. Something about the movie was kind of endearing, but I can't really pinpoint what it was.

Ben Foster is super underrated

Looking at his IMDb page lead to me watching Pandorum because... space horror. He was definitely the best thing in it. Saw it described as The Descent in space and that seems pretty fitting. Very reminiscent of Event Horizon, if Event Horizon had the monsters from Ghosts of Mars in it.

And then after that I wound up watching Sphere because I wanted more sci-fi. I remember having the novel the movie was based on as a kid, but I don't think I ever read one word of it and just wanted it because it had Samuel L. Jackson on the cover for the re-release of the book during the movie's run. I really liked it aside from the ending, but it didn't invalidate the rest for me.

Both of those last two movies mainly just made me think of Labyrinth IV, and that lead to me staring wistfully at the moon while a single tear rolled down my cheek.

The Good Neighbor

Rotten Tomatoes eviscerated this one but I liked it in spite of one of the insufferable main characters. Two teenagers rig up their older neighbor's house with cameras and things to try to make him think his house is haunted and film him 24/7. Cue strange behavior and tension.

Final Destination. I'm usually pretty good at getting into horror movies and enjoying them but all the little details on this are so funny to me. It's not even BAD. It's just very strange choices on the parts of the writers
