It doesn’t

I watched 2 playthroughs of Detroit a few months ago since I figured I'd never get to play it. I really like the way that things SPLIT OFF. The two playthroughs I saw were pretty similar but even the small differences between them led to some major branching.

I have some complaints and things I think seemed a little silly but otherwise it's p great. Connor and Hank especially are great

What was the arc you didn't like out of curiousity?

I think I like the Connor/Hank scenes the best so far. Clancy Brown is so funny in this and Connor's matter-of-fact reactions to everything he does is great.

The character that died

TECHNICALLY all three died back-to-back-to-back, but Markus came back to life and Connor gets remade every time he dies. However the one that kinda killed me was Kara's. I obeyed and didn't become deviant. I figured Todd was just going to catch Alice a beat and I could get revenge for it later. I did not expect him to KILL HER! Alice was dead and he ended up killing Kara right after. Fucking dark.

I dunno how far you are so you might want to read after you finish it you haven't yet but...

Markus Spoiler + Markus's story started strong but I feel like it lacked the right EMOTIONAL CORE. And once it got later in the story, it pulled a little too heavily on DOES THIS CIVIL RIGHTS REFERENCE SOUND FAMILIAR??? Which made things feel a little clunky I feel like it was good but just not as STRONG. But I also feel like because his parts involved a bit more action they were probably more enjoyable it you were actually playing and not just watching

I bought Last of Us, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Nioh.

Thinking about getting Detroit, but it'd be a while until I'd get to it because of the other games.

I got stuck in DS1 (had no idea where to go even when reading a walkthrough lol), and stubbornly wanted to finish it before playing the other ones, started playing other shit and then my graphics card died before I got to finishing it, so I haven't finished a single one :P

So I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I like the gameplay.

Then you will very likely enjoy Nioh. It doesn't just plop you in and say "have fun fucker" like DS games do but the gameplay is similar enough to scratch that itch. I was a fan!
