Sorry, but it seems to me that you are desperate to have your answer correct, but your own scientists basically called it a finger. I can't help you if you refuse to read your own studies you post when they say the thumb works with the *other* fingers.

I have said a few times that yes, it is a special finger. So special it warrants a name like "thumb". But it is still a finger.

The science says it is a special finger. Your nervous system treats it as a finger. Kindergartners and random people on the street will tell you they have ten fingers.

You can say it is special and I agree. But humans are special animals that are still, in fact, animals. And no amount of saying "No, they're humans" will stop them from being animals.
