My dad was given the all clear from cancer a while back but the radiation has caused side-effects with extensive damage leading to internal bleeding. Was originally told it wasn't too serious, just an unpleasantness he'd have to live with.

Turns out the doctor made a few errors of judgement and over time the problem progressively got worse to the point where he has become severely anemic. As a result of the anemia he had major appetite loss and was constantly tired, not able to do much of anything. He wound up losing a load of weight and became seriously ill.

He had some treatment for that (iron infusions mostly) which has certainly helped, but as a result of the lethargy and not being able to really move around he developed DVT which required injections and a minor surgery to correct.

After complaining about the fact he was basically just left to bleed out with no treatment and the general lack of care from the original doctor (he had a blood test which showed low iron count but this was never followed up, took them going to the hospital themselves and another test to actually get things moving), he immediately got a new appointment in which they started a treatment for the bleeding/radiation damage.

It's incredibly unpleasant and there's no guarantee it'll get better but it's worth a shot. I think the latter two things are why it was never originally given, but the long term consequences of the problem should've been addressed or taken more seriously at least.

So it's a bit of a roller-coaster tbh, but that's what cancer will do. Constantly dipping between good and bad news. Pretty shitty, and worthy of a rant since it's caused me a whirlwhind of emotional turmoil this past few weeks.

The silver lining is he's still alive and still all clear and he seems to be picking up health wise a bit from the last dip. There's not a lot we can do at this point other than to wait it out day by day and just hope things turn out okay. Still hoping for the best

it's actually a miscommunication. he's saying lots of people from oakland drink hennessy because it's a big part of hiphop culture (which is why he prefers it) blahblahblah

meanwhile, i'm saying the average resident of the dirty thirties that's facing these sorts of dental issues (i.e. not limited to young men) are getting personals of easy jeezy (E&J) at best

When I bartended the African American male's would buy Henny a ton more and I only had 1 regular ask for E&J (only reason we had it it in stock tbh). The only white people that ordered Henny or Remy where the white dudes that hung out with the black guys.
