gat-damn...I reached the epilogue!
|
well, r.i.p. black lung and hello mr. marston, again! I LOVED those cutscenes for arthur's last mission (Red Dead Redemption?), where he rode back to camp and heard voices of the deceased. the musical score perfectly underlined the cinematics. very deep! not sure yet how I feel about it as I cared for arthur, but I think it was a good writing choice as you can't go wrong with john back in the mainframe. hopefully he will kill that snitch bitch micah...I KNEW he was the REAL rat. not getting to put one between his eyes because of that TOOL dutch was a letdown, but I guess john will finish the job.
now, had I known that I would lose all my 11 thousand dollars and customized weapons and horse and saddle and EVERYTHING, I would not have cared that much about certain things...about that FUCKIN LAST SATCHEL FOR EXAMPLE...and I would have saved the gold bars for john to discover, after all that's some 8000 dollars....I think.
starting "all new" with john feels intriguing, a "fresh grind"so to speak, but I don't know for how long that grind will hold as the main storyline is almost through. john just needs to kill micah and then get shot and be left for dead, again! |

Did you power through the main story or did you do whatever you wanted?
My only gripe with the game was that ALL (except 1 or 2?) the quests involved shooting at something, usually bandits or cops.
You'd be taking a stroll and it somehow turns into a firefight.

That isn't NECESSARILY true (: The three fishing missions with Jack, Kieran and Hosea/Dutch are nice and relaxing the whole way through. Well... kinda, for one of them. There's a FEW in there that don't have any shooting. Some that don't even have any fighting at all. But... it's rare! Most are like that, definitely. I will say that the relaxing/conversational missions are the ones that stuck out to me the most when playing this for some reason. |

You DO keep the guns and stuff too. Think John just has them locked away until the time comes that he needs them. The only thing you truly lose is money but... well, let's just say that's temporary (:
I didn't mind it SO much losing everything. San Andreas had a similar twist where you lose fucking everything after Ryder and Smoke betray you. Though tbf that was more towards the second act of the game. |

Oh yeah I forgot about the fishing missions in the beginning, I think most of them were side quests though.

no I definitely agree about the mission variety, it's felt at times like Rockstar was worried that people wouldn't be ENTERTAINED enough if at least 80% of the missions didn't involve some gunfight(s). Like obviously the climactic showdown ones are fine/call for it, but there's plenty of missions where it feels shoehorned in just to spice things up
That's part of why the Lenny mission still remains one of my fav missions of the game so far

well, it is kind of precise to the times isn't it?! I guess back in the days you would simply draw your revolver over ANY dispute. no matter right or wrong | "There he goes. lel, quite the morning post! maxed out my HONOR, not kharma, and just to drain it down again since I started the BANDIT, not the gambler challenge.
I loaded the "last boy" and took it from there. aiming to spend some more money aswell! | "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

I somehow maxed out my honor at one point (even tho I feel like I've been playing p MIXED, I guess all those hellos really paid off) only for it to come crashing back down from defending myself against from the hillbillies at Butcher's Creek. idk if it's bugged or wut but they started antagonizing/shooting at ME when I was just passing through town, and every single one of them I killed in return would result in -1 honor. Eventually I tried to FLEE but like 10 of them chased me down and wouldn't stop until I put them out of their misery. Singlehandedly lost like 20% of my honor from that I think (:

also, on Chapter 6 now
|
BOY do I hate Micah. Never liked him before but he's especially awful now that he's Dutch's fav. I like/hate that whenever you ride into camp it seems Micah is whispering something into his ear, and when I confront them about it Dutch wants nothing to do with me. What more do you NEED FROM ME MAN!!
The slow downfall of the gang has definitely been one of my favorite aspects of the game. At the beginning of the game I'd look FORWARD to riding into camp and catching back up with all my PALS. Now it just feels like such a downer and everything is so dire. Already feels like the party after Jack's return was forever ago
The tuberculosis thing got spoiled for me right before it happened but it was p OBVIOUS after a while that something was going on with that cough. Definitely seems like that'll lead up to a hero's sacrifice at the end, just hope it feels different enough from John's. OR they're just keeping it realistic and Arthur will die of natural causes (: The most unexpected ending of all! |
