Cereal isn't soup because it doesn't require a liquid at all. |
cereal w/ milk tho |
Did you boil the milk to get the essence out?
|
DOn't respond to this DS it has been irrefutably disproven on multiple levels. Vlady's just carryin on because he has never had a decent bowl of potato soup or gazpacho. |
Hey now, just because you don't like the recipe everyone else is using doesn't mean its bad.
Unless it involves cabbage.

Was that the one with the first ingredient being vegetable stock?
It still required boiling something for the essence even if I drink cold broth and call it soup. It doesn't matter if I'm not the one who did the boiling- for vegetable stock, someone boiled vegetables in water. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |

And gazpacho is apparently liquid salad, not a first definition soup. It is a second definition soup (i.e., a food that looks like a soup).

But gazpacho technically isn't a first definition soup:
1) a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc., in stock or water.
So it only qualifies as a second definition "soup":
2) a substance or mixture perceived to resemble soup in appearance or consistency.
So that's the only thing that makes gazpacho a soup- the second definition.
Nobody but DS really perceives breakfast cereal as soup and it fails definition one, so cereal is not soup.

It fails definition 1 and 2. It does not resemble "soup". It's a smoothie.

I saw someone else say Gazpacho was more like a drink than a soup. I suspect that's because they tried it using the weird "let's cook it first" recipe you posted.
As an aside: Even in that abortion of a recipe you posted, cooking tomato is not done to release this magical essence you keep talking about. It's done to separate the fruit from the skin and to make shitty produce more palatable. Traditionally, you use old tomato on the verge of being too soft, so it is already soft and easy to separate.

Truth time: I have never made Gazpacho, and am not a gazpacho expert.
