Only reason I brought up rape in the military and then fucked off for like six hours is because someone mentioned reporting assault to a supervisor and I know in the military that’s no an option if the superior is the one assaulting and you can’t report above chain of command.

not sure how much i have to contribute here that hasn't been said, but before i say this i'll say that i tend to agree with the points made by vlady/nofo overall.

I think the reason this debate gets so heated is because when people ask, "well how do we protect against false accusations?" it feels like you're changing the subject. it seems like in the face of evidence that a woman or a number of women have been assaulted by a man (ik this happens the other way around, or man -> man etc), your first response is, "well, what about the innocent men?" maybe the underlying question is, "what would happen if someone falsely accused me?" (someone has asked me this underlying in real life. this is not putting thoughts in anyone's mind who posts here.)

there is nothing wrong with asking the hard questions (like "what about false accusations"). they are questions that need to be answered. however, when you ask "what about false accusations?" it seems like you're avoiding other hard questions like, "how do we stop this culturally?" I think questions like that should be answered first. i don't have sources on hand to back this up but i'm pretty confident in claiming that there are more women out there who were assaulted and never came forward than men who have been falsely accused.

If that's an answer here that could be an answer to any or every crime. I dont buy it. Non-sociopaths commit crimes. Also, i don't think sociopaths control what's going on culturally.

To be more clear, when i say stopping something culturally i do not mean stopping it absolutely (altho that would be great). I mean not living in a culture where this is so widespread that it comes out within a month that multiple public figures have done it

A lot of normal people commit crimes out of necessity or are influenced to do so.

There are ~4 - ~13 million sociopaths in the US. You very likely know a few without knowing they are ones.

I think I read that around 1 in 4 CEOs are ones, if they are smart then it's easy for them to game the system and people to get into positions of power.
I'm fairly sure that Hillary Clinton is one for example(of manipulating systems and people to get into power).

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of actors are too since they've probably been acting all their lives to seem normal.

I'm not saying that only they do it BTW.

But I don't think many do it that aren't ones or aren't psychologically damaged in some way.
