A little too slow in the beginning, but it's great otherwise. It's a real homage to the psychological thriller genre and it fucks with the viewer hard at the end.
p good. I agree with the reviews that the characters were pretty thin (despite a loaded cast) but I did think Jason Clarke did a really good job. Gyllenhaal was probably wasted the most
Really good spectacle tho, I saw it on a bigger screen in 3D but I kinda wish I would've went to IMAX
Prettyyy good. Depp lives up to the hype (despite how hard it was to get past the makeup while watching, mostly those ridiculous contacts), by the middle of the movie I'd feel TENSE whenever Bulger was on screen, especially with the prostitute and Connolly dinner scenes. I also think Edgerton's being pretty underrated for this. I thought he did just about as good with his less flashy role
I guess my biggest problem was how it just kinda...ends. It's a biopic so it's hard to avoid that a lot of the time, but I think there was a more compelling climax in there somewhere. Also kinda weird that

Plemons' character was introduced in the beginning as Bulger's closest confidante, has a big first scene at the bar and then just completely disappears. I'm wondering if they just cut a lot of his stuff out?

I saw the opening for this film at TIFF where the cast was there (Johnny Depp and Dakota Johnson)

I wondered what happened to him as well to Plemons character as I thought he was the narrator of sorts
The only good thing about Summer ending is that movie season is BACK!
The Martian
Really enjoyed it. There were a lot of comparisons to Interstellar before it came out but it couldn't have been more different (at least tonally). I prefer Interstellar but this was vry good too. Donald Glover STOLE THE SHOW!
Sicario
was kinda underwhelmed by this. I was expecting something on the level of Prisoners but it was a bit lacking comparatively. Still was a pretty solid thriller though, lots of intense scenes and del Toro gave a great performance
The Walk
surprisingly, my favorite movie I saw this weekend. On its own merits, like if I were to just watch it at home, it was just okay. But it was probably the best use of 3D I've ever seen, even moreso than Avatar and Gravity, I can see why that's the only format that my theater offered. There were several moments where I was leaning back in my seat because of how visceral and real it all felt
Those are the three I'm debating on seeing this weekend
Which one should I go with????
Personally I'd go The Walk > The Martian > Sicario but it depends if you'd rather see a regular movie or more of an 'experience' movie, which is how I'd describe The Walk
