I finally got around to watching Tree of Life. I really didn't know what to think. It's hard to describe it as a movie really. I enjoyed it and it did things to me. I'm normally not a fan of ARTY films that are trying to be thoughtful/philosophical but this is the first time I was genuinely moved and engaged by one. A lot of the sequences and ideas really touched a nerve with me.
Very good cinema, but hard to describe as a movie per se. |
Loved that movie. You should check out The Fountain too if you want to see something similar. It's not as good but it's worth watching

Argo - outstanding! Very solidly made, with fantastic performances across the board. I don't want to spoil too much outside of the initial concept so I'm just going to say that the dialogue is fantastic and Affleck has earned his reputation. The movie is able to change mood so quickly, and without ever feeling forced or unnatural. It's just really good, and engaging throughout.

Seeing that tomorrow instead of Looper! Was kinda bummed at first but it sounds like it'll be just as good. I really liked Affleck's first two movies (especially GBG)

Robette and I went to see Hotel Translyvania last night, and I was actually impressed how much it didn't suck. It had moments of kiddishness and toilet humour, but it's got Adam Sandler not being Adam Sandler, and that alone was worth the ticket price. Steve Buscemi as the Wolfman was also hilarious, and he has easily the best line of the whole movie near the end. |

Argo was very good! I liked it better than The Town, probably about on par with GBG

I really want to see Argo. The issue is finding someone to go with. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

If anyone sees the Alex Cross movie can you report back here? Thanks! | A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart. |

lol I've heard enough about it to gather that it is totally not worth seeing. Even if TYLER PERRY didn't put you off.

Just saw Wreck-It Ralph. That movie was actually amazingly well done. I laughed out loud quite a few times.
It's actually scary how much the little kid reminded me of Robette at times. |

What I got out of that:
You're engaged to a little kid. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"
