Moving update: We've gotten the bulk of the boxes put in an enclosed trailer we're using with a few more to load up on move day. After that it's just the few bits of furniture we're taking.

Also by bed frame broke and I've already ordered a new one that should get here the day before the move.

Company just sent out an email saying Juneteenth is now a holiday and we're off tomorrow.

I have a sad confession to make FE, I am going bald. Your mental image of me with flowing long locks is going to have to be adjusted. I apologise for shattering your world-view so abruptly. I'm at a point where I definitely need to go all in and fully shave it, but I'm still not committed because it's such a big deal. So I'm just wearing hats right now, not to hide the reality (I'm quite casual about my encroaching lack of hair) but because it looks weird. I'm aware that some of you probably don't even know who I am, let alone have a mental image of my hair, but hopefully this helps to alleviate that.

the family home discussions in Depressing News reminded me of this, but its not really the same thing at all.

My grandpa was kinda the black sheep of his family, and back in the late 40s after he married my grandma they moved into his childhood home with his family, and the family were Not Great to either of them. So they bought a cheap house that needed a lot of repairs and thats the house that I grew up in.

But my grandpa's childhood home stayed occupied by his sister for most of her life, and she never married, and even though she wasn't on speaking terms with my grandparents, she didnt want the family home to end up in someone else's hands, so 15 years ago, she sold it to my cousin for cheap and moved into a nursing home, and she's since passed away.

As a result, my cousin's house has been in the family for almost 100 years exactly, but we don't have any living connections to the history of the place left. So instead we'll just randomly find something under a floorboard or during a renovation and its always the weirdest shit. Theres been at least 3 deaths in the place and I only found out about the most recent one a few days ago when i was moping around browsing Find A Grave. In the 40s, my grandpa's father's first wiffe's mother came over to visit 30 years after her daughter had died and had a heart attack and died in the house. A senator visited my grandpa's 7 year old sister's wake which was held in the house. There are letters in the walls from my great great grandmother, random weird things in the rafters, etc.
