Yesterday was the big day!

Me vs My Landlord and his attorneys

As suspected. They poked holes in everything, and lied tremendously.
I told the truth and literally nothing but the truth.
The state of LA hired person on our Zoom call basically agreed with my landlord's lawyers that some of the really dumb holes they poked made it so my case was not strong enough to warrant anything.
The Zoom call was separate rooms so I did not have to speak face to face with that asshole. Yet, I literally saw him outside my apartment window fucking walking around on the call. What a tremendous douchebag.
The landlord despite this agreed that I can "keep my Emotional Support Animal" -_-
My response.... alright, well then I will see you in court! I NEED monetary settlement.
An hour later they decided they would pay a small amount to be done with it and to ensure I cannot press charges on this in the future.
My response.... the money is not big enough, so I will see you in court!
The State of LA person told me many times that they will most likely WALK if I do this and see me in court.
An hour later they provided a little bit more money.
My response... you also need to take 2 hours of Fair Housing courses.
They agreed.

Unfortunately, the money, is still like 10x smaller than what I wanted. I haven't signed the paperwork yet. I am not sure if I will or will not. It's a win for me, but also, feels like a loss.

I've been calling contingency lawyers all morning. It's really hard to find help unless you're willing to pay some shmuck $300+ an hour for their dumb ass hourly rate. Even fucking consultations are upwards of $150 for a 30 minute phone call. My landlord's lawyer HAS his last name, so it's clear he aint paying very much, if not, anything at all.

It might be best for me to just accept the deal and be done with it.

Well I dont have to leave, either way.

If I do leave though I will be spending at LEAST $1,000 more a month on rent. It would be a loss, right away.

You guys remember when someone tried to scam my unemployment by giving me money randomly and then not following up on it? Well I still have the money... I reported it when it happened but that was months ago and now I'm just like... Uh I dunno. Like we are nearing tax time and I'll technically need to file for this 2 weeks of unemployment that I shouldn't have gotten but I really don't know. The unemployment office shut down their phone line and the only way to contact them is filing a claim which is what I did to no response. It's 1,400 dollars just sitting in my account mocking me. Vaporwages

Didn't someone already technically file for you when you originally received it? Was it mailed to you? Or couldn't you pay it back via the bank if it went directly to your account? I don't know. It's weird they'd shut down their phone line.
