So when the rockets blow up right after launch, they fall harmlessly into the ocean instead of over populated areas.

If they didn't care about that, the space center would be in California or New Mexico.

hmm actually didn't think about that

I was thinking more like Houston tho

Due to Earths rotation and air circulation patterns, the rockets head NE (relative to the ground) after liftoff. If they launched from Houston, they would travel up over Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas before getting into the upper atmosphere.

Same. I took a nap and forgot to set an alarm for it. I woke up right after the launch happened

I missed it because I was walking the streets in a slightly drunken rage. Also I decided to go to shop to buy some peanut butter, which for some reason I deemed I needed immediately.

I did see catch the ISS going over my town later on though. Some people in the UK saw Dragon too.

Just watched the launch on youtube. Good stuff
